I still think the trailer would have been more powerful if it showed the entire galaxy under attack.

Oh... and that poor little girl. Wonder if she survived?

Regarding the two separate scenes of the little girl, it does kind of make me think someone had two great ideas and didn't know which to go with. So, they went with both. Felt a little forced.

But, really, what an awesome trailer. Makes me wonder if they are looking to this as a little screen test to help garner support for the movie.

The full length trailer was fantastic, and the scene with the Dragon's Teeth and the husks was horrifying.

I am wondering about the transformation into a husk, is the spike filled with some kind of nanomachines that replaces blood with liquid red metal, and burns through the skin? Like building this husks from the inside out. Most likely building AROUND the bones and using them as a base and build on some metal and mechanics instead of flesh.

Man, i cant wait to dig in to the new CODEX and get to know every little secret about the Reapers!

I'm really hoping we get to rescue him, I doubt it would add much to the story, but from a role playing perspective it would be enjoyable.

Liked the extended cut, Nigel Fishnchips definitely survived, probably by leaping onto a passing Reaper and headbutting it into submission.

That said the one thing I felt could have been added is the Reapers trademark dubstep scream/dustbin lids noise at the moment where it descends upon the little girl. It would have made the transition between that and the Shepard actionfest smoother I think, and it's an incredibly iconic part of Mass Effect by now.

If only we go to London, and secure Big Ben if it isn't destroyed and we find the sniper up there. That would be a good move by Bioware and wouldn't be surprising.

I'm doubtful we'll see the Big Ben sniper in-game, but I still want to imagine he escaped to safety and is off somewhere, continuing to snipe husks like a boss.

Mhorhe83 wrote...

Wait, what?

So, the fight against the Reapers is about more than one race, or more than one world in your opinion. Which is fine, and eminently true. Except.. you have a problem with that world or race being humanity?! Isn't that a contradiction?

How is it a contradiction? Everyone is in trouble here, not just the humans. Shepard is essentially a man in a neighborhood on fire, telling every one of his neighbors to leave their kids inside and help him get his out instead. It's a very selfish and arrogant viewpoint.

This 'Take Earth Back' theme is propping our needs above everyone else's, that's what I don't like. I'm not anti-human, I just don't like humans more than everyone else. As a career Paragon, the entire point of this game to me has been about humanity taking its place among the galactic community, not humanity dominating that community. I don't like seeing the other species used as tools to further our own goals instead of, as you said, everyone bound together in mutual defense.

Or maybe I'm way off-base and Shepard's missions to Sur'Kesh, Tuchanka and Palaven actually involve him/her single-handedly wiping out their Reaper problems first. I guess we'll see.

Uhm..actually, everyone WILL be
in trouble. So far, as far as we know, only the humans are in trouble.
You don't see the skies of Sur'kesh raining Reapers, for instance. The
Citadel isn't under attack. If the second Council race and the Citadel
are not under attack, it isn't unreasonable to assume that the others
aren't either - at least, not under such a massive assault as Earth.

Your
assumption is that everyone is under an attack the magnitude of the one
falling on Earth. Which to me looks like merely an assumption, on which you draw some strong conclusions.

Or it simply means that Earth is ground zero for the fight against Reapers, and nothing more :)

My
Shep's as Paragon as they come, to downright silly moments like NOT
shooting the mech with Garrus' sniper rifle. I'm totally behind the
philosophy of everyone getting along. However, Shep's still human.

I'd stake
money those missions will involve a mixture of local indoctrination,
Cerberus activity, rogue factions/batarians going about chaos, and the
occasional Reaper incursion, infiltration, or even attack. But nothing on the magnitude of what's going down on Earth, at least not until the latter part of the game.

I think
it's quite clear, and intended. It's Take EARTH Back. We're shown how
the cradle of human civilization si devastated and the human race put on
the fast track to annihilation..

Mhorhe83, I enjoyed
reading your response and I reflect similar sentiments. In addition, I
believe we're just seeing a split here between those that have been ME
fans and those that Bioware is trying to reach out to. The former want
to be spoken to as directly as they are imagining in their head. Makes
sense that they want their LI, Liara throwing biotics around in a
cascade of blue destruction or Wrex charging into a group of Husks and
scattering them to and fro. I get that, but I also get that Biofolks
want more people to pick and up play ME than ever before- loving it as
much as many of us do -- hell, even going back and playing the other
two-- that would be great. And the human element will likely speak to
them far more than a Turian they've never seen and have no background
of.

For that, I can enjoy their CG trailer for what it was- it
still resonates with me, I also believe that when I am actually playing
the game, Liara will be engaged in blue destruction and my Wrex will be
charging. So I'm happy and I'm happy that new people in addition to you
fine folks may play this game along with me and that means a higher
budget and solid future for Mass Effect 4... 5... 6...

7... 8...

Thanks :) Don't get me wrong though, I share your sentiment. My Shepard is a completely Paragon kind of guy that went out of his way to save anyone and everyone (sometimes just for the sake of being goody-goody too shoes), and I thoroughly enjoy the sentiment of everyone working together for a common goal. I also enjoyed Garrus so much I stuck with him through and through both games, every playthrough.

But like you said, I know both of those things will be there in the game :) So I just find it somewhat annoying that people would pick on such stuff, or on the symbolism of Earth/humans with little reason.

I really wish that's so as well :) Would give a nice continuity feeling to everything. They might as well use familiar characters for the inevitable guerrila leaders we'll be encountering..

Palaven's surface is lit up like a Christmas tree. It looks very similar to the images of Earth. I feel like in order for it to make sense for the turians to leave their own world and help with Earth, they're just going to destroy Palaven and take it out of the equation. That to me is throwing them under the bus for the pro-human narrative.

Sur'Kesh looks beat up and Tuchanka and Rannoch both have Reapers on the surface already. Shepard might be able to clean up those problems, I just hope it doesn't come to a situation where they're being asked to leave their own homeworlds while they're still under imminent threat to save one that is essentially already lost.

I know this is all assumption, but it's hard not to see it that way with how the game is being advertised. I don't know what's going to happen yet, those are just my worries based on the initial marketing.

Perhaps you saw something I haven't yet, in which case you have my apologies.

To me it looks like everything everywhere is in turmoil, but the hammer blow has fallen (and keeps on falling) on Earth alone for the time being.

I'm fairly certain you needn't worry ;) If we make a Dragon Age parallel, you didn't just order the dwarves to march out to war on the surface. You solved their problems first as well.

The extended trailer was amazing and definitely got me even more hyped up for Mass Effect 3, which is good because that is the object of a awesome trailer. I'm getting extremely impatient now because I've opted not to download the demo incase anything gets spoiled plus I want to savour the experience, I mean it's MASS EFFECT 3!!!

For what it's worth, imho, nothing really gets spoiled in the demo that you didn't already know coming from ME1/2 along with what you've already seen watching the various trailers. Download away and get your ME fix while you wait the 2 weeks, mate. :)

I suppose there could be a side quest spoiler during the 2nd part of the demo but it's a very mild one again probably having something to ancillary occuring during your time playing ME3.

Unless you know Shepard finds a deus ex device that shuts down all reapers at once. But I like the way you put it, that would definitely cause some difficult decisions for players. Do they scurry all races over to Earth at the risk of losing their own strongholds and worlds or do we have to think of the greater good of the entire galaxy and leave Earth to its fate and take the Reapers on strategically. That would be great writing and I would be happy. Well, it would give the game much more depth, not make me happy, if I have to sacrifice Palaven to save Earth :crying:

The trailer was pretty sweet. If we have any skirmishes like that in the actual game then it will be even more awesome.
