Xbox 360 (may apply to other platforms)

Currently the only way to play with friends is
  • Create a room and fill slots with friends.  If less than 4 friends are available, start the mission undermanned.
  • Hope a friend has slots available in their current game and "Join Session in Progress"
An option for "Quick Match" is needed to Join as Group and/or allow created rooms to allow random people in.  When creating a room, public slots only enable friends of players in the room to "Join Session in Progress" (as seen by user, Riot Inducer in this post http://social.biowar...9338927#9341665).

I tested how public slots works by having a friend create a public room and leaving said room to search for games via quick match.  Quick Match had no trouble finding 3 other random people to play with sometimes even placing my as a leader and filling the 3 other slots with random people.

I've created a private lobby for me and my friend then changed it to public and had random people (we didn't know) fill the last 2 spots.

Doesn't work every time so I am assuming it's a bit bugged but I believe that's how it should work.

Tried it. The matchmaking system still does not fill the slots. Even creating a public group does not fill those slots.

Guess I was replying during your edit.  If it is a bug, hopefully it is resolved in the final game.  Hopefully someone from Bioware can respond to this.

Last night my cousin and I did a 3 hour session, not one person joined a group.  In those 3 hours we played only a couple matches because we'd wait and wait for the slots to fill but they never did.

Again, it should be noted that this experience is on Xbox 360.

Have the same issue on the 360 as well. Me and a firend played all evening and not once did anyone join through matchmaking.

Though now we cant even duo play since Live's party system doesn't work for us anymore ("can't connect to party", blah blah), so I guess the point is moot now.

I second this, group support should be implemented, If there is a bug that prevents people from joining your public game that you should at least be able to join others people's games a group. Bronze can be pretty challenging if you are only 2 people....

Just finished playing with a friend about 40 min ago. We waited in a created room for a while no one joined, so we tried 2 manning it. Afterwards we tried waited a bit and still no one came, so we tried 2 manning again. We gave up trying to wait for people so I exited to main menu while he tried finding a lobby with room so he could "ninja invite" me.

We found a room, but the worst part was hoping that people wouldn't leave after each match. Luckily each time someone left, the other person in the room had one of his/her friends join too. I really hope this is changed for the final build.

I feel like the crazy matchmaking is probably the most dire issue with ME3 co-op that needs attention. The reason so many people hop around and leave lobbies is precisely because the system is so undependable. It will place level 4s looking for a bronze match in gold with one other player and then never add more players, for example. And then the host migration--on PC at least--needs a lot of work. It's highly irregular, to put it nicely.

I have to agree. Even using the Quick Match option, so many times someone will leave and the public slots go unfilled for minutes to hours on end. What is more infuriating is when the host leaves during a game, you lose all progress as the server not attempt to find another host but instead returns to the lobby. Frankly, BioWare ought to take lessons from Bungie's matchmaking system. Say what you will about Halo their method is arguably the best.

Anywho, TC. If you need someone. Feel free to tag me. GT: Bourne Endeavor

Plus if you search a bronze match it shouldn't dump you into a silver/gold lobby and vice versa.

Well i would be happy if you even can join your friends matches without getting that unable to connect message 90% of the time.

This needs to be fixed. In order for me and a friend to play with a full group we both have to search for separate lobbies and hope for an open slot. If there isn't one we then are either forced to leave or wait until someone else does. Its this broken matchmaking system that is causing so many people to drop group before/after matches.

I'd also like some kind of indication as to what non-ready players are doing so I know if they're AFK or not.

"__________ is assigning skill points"
"__________ is changing appearance"
"__________ is in store"
"__________ is swapping weapons"

It's anoying as hell and I agree with everything. EVERY game has this now.... I mean comon BioWare I don't care about day 1 DLC or such but please put your game up to standard when it comes to matchmaking :)

This is not because of BioWare I think. I can connect to all my friend and randoms without problem. Check your NAT/ connection. I might help ;)

I agree with the general sentiment of this thread. It is very frustrating sitting around in a lobby with two open slots and knowing there is probably another lobby out there with two people having the same problem. A list of lobbies with open slots would be helpful.
I would also agree with ZG that there needs to something more then the equipment change sound effect to indicate what an unresponsive player is doing.

its very annoying to find a game (even bronze) that i have at least a chance to win i have to keep trying for 15+ minutes sometimes... with all these issues mentioned here and it gets stuck at loading screens very often, i get connection loss messages etc... it has been like that since launch of the demo without any sign of improvement... i wonder if they even plan to fix it, im not gonna buy the game with such problems... im used to play games that have flawless matchmaking systems.

Just convinced a friend of mine to try the co-op thing together and was disappointed to find out the limited support for actually playing with your friends. Creating a match and inviting your friend just leads to the remaining slots remaining empty. And trying to ninja-vite your friend into a Quick Match game is a crap shoot at best. Hopefully this is fixed for the full game. It's the sort of thing you assume would be a fundamental feature of a co-op game.

Use the mic in those situations. Most people have it. 99% of the time when I say "hurry up" with my mic, they go on ready or respond back with "hold on" ect.

It would be nice if there were some sort of loud audio notification when the match is starting. Those soft beeps aren't cutting it.

A chime to bug/wake up sleeping players would be nice too.

I agree the Lobby needs improvement. Say, you start a lobby and invite friends. You Party up and then search for games. (this is if you are undermanned)

or, you join a game and make a friend, but the rest of the players are just not team players there should be away to party up with that player without sending invites etc etc.

Yeah it's the worst. I want to play with one friend so he searches for a lobby and prays that someone will leave. Alternatively, I make a public lobby, invite him, no one else joins after waiting for 25 minutes. I could be playing but instead have to wait for one of us to find a lobby with a free slot. Its basically the antithesis of streamlined group play. We need a search with group option or a legit lobby browser. Its ridiculous.
