Storytelling, unique game experience, bah. I know why there are six different origins.

It's so people don't have to crawl through DA:O's equivalent of Chateau Irenicus first thing every playthrough. Over, and over, and over, and over...

Thanks for listening, BioWare :D

Some decisions you make in your origin story will have lasting effects through the rest of the game so replaying the same origin in a different way will have differing results.

Edit: spelling

Oh, Irenicus' dungeon. I love and hate you SOOOOOOO much. You have a great point though topic creator, this is likely the case.

Release!!!! Yes Master, I don't want to do the dungeon anymore.

I always thought that guy was a chronic restarter like me, I was always happy to put him out of his misery.

So if you're playing all the origins equally, you'd have to play Dragon Age six times more than you've already played BG2 to get so sick of the beginnings.^_^

(I don't think Irenicus's dungeon is bad at all, it's just the confining structure of it, and a reflection of how good the rest of the game is.)

Except...

***MINOR SPOILERS***

it looks like all the stuff after the Origins is the same regardless of Origin, at least until after you're passed that whole "linear" part.

Well yeah, just like BG2 is the same each time. (Not to mention, there will be other smaller differences later on in the game). The point is that the forced linear tutorial-level at the start, before the world opens up, tends to be the part that drags. Plus if you try out a lot of characters that you don't finish, it will be the part that you play the most.
