For the same reason your new Shepards can choose bonus powers other Shepards earned in previous playthroughs.

I don't like it either, but for some reason that's the way things work.

I don't see a big problem with this, I am always thorough when playing RPG's. I do not move onto the next big plot point untill I've exhaused all the side missions in a specific area.

So this system does not bother me that much... it seems to me that if your a casual player who does not bother with exploration and side missions in SP and just wants to stick to the main missions you will have trouble getting the so called "perfect" ending.

But if you also like to play the MP alot then your lack of interest in side missions etc in the SP will not penalize you from getting the "perfect" ending to the story.

Exactly Casey said earlier that imports, depending on choices, have the potential of bringing in a ton of resources.

Did devs comment on this decay thing? The decay system itself affecting SP apparentyl if you play MP.

So multiplayer always decays no matter what? What if I played every day? Would that prevent the decay or at least allow me to get the pecentage back, or any percentage back for that matter?
Or is it a one time thing? Once you get mulitplayer up to it's max percentage it starts to decay no matter what? Like should I get my singleplayer up, then when I get to the big final part I save right before and go crazy in mulitplayer so I get the bonus and no decay?
Not really clear...

i like the decay.  locking me out of getting a bad ending forever would be the worst thing!  when i'm playing it again in 8 months i'll be all "i wanna get the worst ending dead galaxy now i'm sad  :("  That's like saying it bad that you're able to die at the suicide mission in me2.

i have to disagree with the decay rate, my galaxy at war rate has decayed 5% in a day!! at this rate i wont have time to play the single player only the multiplayer to keep my score up

Messing about with anything to do with multiplayer is risky, most companies take zero tolerance in that department. It does seem that most people are objecting to MP affecting SP, i can put up with it but i feel the decay rate is rather steep, forcing me to spend an hour a day or more to top up my GaW rating is a bit excessive, and thats if i can finish a mish without getting wiped

I'm pretty sure that there are tiers. I played MP the first day, got to 90%, then lost about 2.5% a day. I am now at 75%, and I seem to be losing 1% per day now. A friend of mine that got all the way to 100% was down to 98% just under a day later.

Ahh it could be that the decay rate at 100% is higher then at lower levels. Funny thing is the collectors players guide said that you loose 6% per week which is nothing but maybe they didnt go higher then 60% or something.

FWIW, i reached 100% on MP pretty quickly, and I am decaying at about 4%/day. This seems insanely stupid to me, but what do I know, I'm only a loyal, paying customer :-)

heh cant argue with you there hatenchaos, just checked from yesterday and ive decayed 4% as well since about this time yesterday, at least its consistent for everyone i guess they just want us to spend those bioware points :)

Tell me about it. They force you to play other games outside of the main quest to get the most fullfillment out of the main quest and the efforts you put in are temporary? What's gonna happen 3 years from now when the servers go down? I just get stuck with 50% Galactic Readiness? nonsense

I got my galactic readiness up to 100% and less than 2 hours later it decreases to 98. That's ridiculous.

Yeap 4% decay a day. If the servers do go down eventually then they should do us the curtsy of give us 100% or at least releasing a dlc which gives us full galatic readiness
