Not personally stronger. It makes the fleet stronger, not Shepard.

If start with 50% in SP
No, those 50% (Readiness or R) is for MP. The system in place for SP is called galaxy at war or GAW. The ending is determined by multiplying readiness with galaxy at war: R x GAW. R is always at least 50%, even if you don't play MP, it can't go below 50%. You can get enough GAW in SP to get the perfect ending without ever touching MP.

What this means in regards to the endings is that to get the perfect ending, you have to play through the singleplayer game and do EVERY sidemission to get the perfect ending and you have to do it fast. You can take your time but you'll have to play the multiplayer or the iOS game to maintain or increase your readiness level.
@OP this is the confusing part which has caused many people to get confused as you are saying we have to do our missions fast and some think that if we don't it will then decay. Please can you rectify this to stop furthur confusing. Also I don't think you would have to do EVERY sidemission for the perfect ending but I will aim to do so anyway.

Ok I get it now. The decay system seems wholly unnecessary and just makes the system more confusing. It would have been easier had they just kept SP and MP separate.
Eh, it sounds simple enough to me--it's a score bonus, a little something to make the hours you put into multiplayer a bit more worthwhile.

Ok - let me put it like this - I spend a few weeks cranking my alternate path / multiplayer because I am a completionist freak. I think I'm ready to take everything and finish my game with all the bonus and everything.
BANG - a huge pile of work lands on my desk. There goes the next two weeks as I crank overtime, my weekends are filled with uni studies and assignments while trying to organise group work meet ups plus general other life commitments and generally computer gaming gets knocked off the radar as it does from time to time.
After a few weeks I think finally - I can get back to my game - I have free time now. Get back - and lo and behold - I have had a compounding 1% decrease every day for the last three weeks.
My understanding is that you keep everything you got from being a completionist. You're losing the bonus from MP, not what you earned in SP missions.
Which is the bonus I don't want to lose. I'm well aware you won't lose anything you worked for in single player, but I'm working the mutliplayer to get the maximum readiness and everything - and then thats being taken away from me because I'm not playing the game? Really?

Ok so time factor does not impact in the slightest to main SP game play through. I want to be 110% sure on this.
If start with 50% in SP, do all the quests/missions and such and gain enough points to get the best ending then leave for holiday or stop playing for x amount of time. When come back your points will be the same, will not have decreased at all in SP and will get best ending still? I just want to be super-duper-uber sure of this. Also sorry OP no offense intended but yes your original post comes across are very confusing which is why so much confusion.
Overall score = GaW x GR.
GaW is affected by SP and doesn't decay over time.
GR is affected by MP and decays 1% every day if it is above 50%. If you don't play MP at all, it is always at 50%.
OP should just copy and paste this equation onto his or her first post to avoid confusion.

Why does it hurt you? It's just a number, useless if you have a high enough Galaxy at War rating.

@Topic... Okay, you've got a few options it seems....
- Be an SP completionist and do all the main- and sidequests. (Get as much as allies on your side) And don't do MP. Quite a challenge. Also, if you were Renegade you might run into problems with getting some necessary points for perfect ending when it comes re. Quarians/Geth and/or Krogan conflicts.
- Be an total completionist, max out MP and SP. Perfect ending about guaranteed.
- Play the main missions at SP and max out MP. Although not guaranteed, it's more likely then with SP completionist to reach perfect ending if I guess the value of the main missions vs side missions right.
- Anything in between: less well then total completionist, better then SP completionist chance to get perfect.

Next question and probably a stupid
one, the GaW score/points or percentage is shown in the single player
game? So that we actually know if we need to use MP or specifically how
much MP we need to do or will it be not shown and we will just have to
take the chance based on our play through. This might seem odd but I
prefer the not shown version and I am aware I may be in the minority on
this I admit.
No idea, no info to be had about that yet...

I already edited it earlier to make it clearer. Also devs have mentioned recently that you have to do every sidemission in addition to the source saying he didn't even know if that many points in the game so it's either every sidemission or a close amount.
I'll add the formula into the OP as my explanation is a bit wordy.

So the question is, how exactly do you raise your mp %? Total time played? Score/hour? Rounds completed? Games won? Is there a limit of how high it can go per day? Etc...
This is assumption but would make most sense to me if based on games won/areas controlled.

Yeah, okay. I can live with that.
However, I forsee heavy use of ME3's version of Gibbed Save Editor in the future, not necessarily by myself, but by others.
