If its console then mic chat is the only way to do it..on any game.

PC has a keybind for text chatting ingame, however it's disabled on the demo for whatever reason, I believe there was a Bioware post saying it will be active in retail along with a lobby chat.

How about PC? I too am not seeing a type-chat feature.
