So, will the full game have more than just the N7 ranking? Because I HATE leaderboards that just rate based on time invested and not something more tangible and actually representative of skill (like average points per round).

Max level is not something I'm interested in as anyone can do it. But having a leaderboard take into account average points per round in each difficulty tier/all 3 combined would make it compelling.

Few games do this (although I kiss K/D ratio is a version of that although it's useless as a measure in objective modes) and it's always annoyed me.

Honestly, I'm pretty damned good at co-op modes and I'm OK in competitive. But it's annoying to never be able to see where I truly stand in relation to everyone else.

Leaderboards for how many points you average in a match would dissuade squad teamwork and encourage running in there trying to kill everything on your own. And there's enough of that as is..

Not really. With assists in place it should work out well for everyone.

Just having your N7 level is an incentive for nothing. So I spent hundreds of hours on a game, bit deal, so did a bunch of other people.

Leaderboards might as well not exist at that point as it's such a worthless measure. Average points per game would at least allow people to gauge how well you play. Better than your character level at least.

Leaderboards lead to competitiveness, which in turn would ruin the co-op experience.

As for incentive, I suppose boosting your galactic readiness should suffice?

No. Please God, no. Don't give them any ideas. The only way co-op will stay cooperative is if there is no impetus to be competitive. We already have some complaining about "kill stealing". Stat tracking, in general, brings out the absolute worst in people and the community as a whole. I do not want to be compared to you, nor know how I'm doing points wise. The fun of this game is NOT knowing. I came from BF3, which was stat whoring the 1000th power. OP, I get that you want to know where you stand, but I can't agree with you.

We need more reasons to work together, not more reasons to fight with each other instead of our common enemies.

Edit: Furthermore, classes and weapons are not nearly balanced enough to give everyone a fair shake. The Infiltrator with the Widow X would dominate the board, while the Avenger III Soldier would lag far behind. Every class is needed to give the maximum amount of variety and utility per match. We don't need 1337 qu1cksc0pes McCoDPants running around trying to solo a wave after he let his teammates die unneccessarily, nor do we need a hundred Vanguards charging left and right into certain death for those few "really important" kills.

QFT.

I already hear plenty of shouts of "you stole my kill" from some of the younger kids I play with. <_<

I'm grateful there is no friendly fire. Otherwise, I'm sure there would be plenty of betrayers who try to kill off team mates so they can have all the kills/points.

This is supposed to be a squad WORKING TOGETHER. As far as I'm concerned, if people aren't prepared to play that way, they can GTFO and go play alone. I like helping out my buddies, and I don't need leaderboard accolades to make me feel good about how I play.

All I can say to this is....CYBER FIVE!!!! B)

I kid, I kid. But I reeeeeeally don't like hearing "Stop stealing my kills!" from anyone, regardless of age. Play as a team, or don't play at all. I try and give people who look like they're handling a situation a chance to mop up, but only if I'm certain they're covered and not in immediate danger. Because hearing "Why the hell did you let me die?" is just as bad as the first complaint. :pinched:

:D

I try not to let people die either, but sometimes if you save imprudently, you just end up a pile of 4 bodies next to a turret or with a phantom flipping across your corpses lol. That's more of a fail than finishing off the wave so they can get up again, and the whole squad isn't penalized.

Despite these things, MP is still lots of fun, and I look forward to playing for realz when the game releases. ^_^

Agreed, though I could live with an overall score for the team being a leaderboard like Gears of War does for its co-op mulitplayer modes. Having this would still have people working as a team as it would be the entire teams score not the individual that gets posted.

Amen to that.

It hasn't yet crossed the line of turning into a competitive ****storm. It's enough with "kill stealing" and ruining other player's combos (not that I really care because it's a team game, but some people probably do).

Leave any further stuff out of it. :)
