Wow, this is a great program!
I didn't like the french FSB program "MusicplayerEX FMOD" ...it didn't work for me and I was very suspicious of it. I think it might be a trojan.

But this AEZAY one works great and does not have any viruses. Thank you Aezay!

Sorry for the necro.

Was messing with some FSB files from another game, and updated this little app again. Also changed the name, since FSB files aren't specific to Dragon Age. No idea if anyone still uses this, but I just didn't like having obsolete information around here.

FSB Extractor Changes | 2010 Apr 14
-----------------------------------
- Renamed the program to "FSB Extractor" as its functionality isn't limited to Dragon Age.
- Included XP Manifest to support the use of Visual Styles.
- Added option to add and save wave headers when extracting data.
- Now stores a few settings in a file named "config.ini".
- Can now open a filename given by the command line.
- Added two new column headers, Samples (number of samples) and BPS (bits per sample).
- IMA ADPCM audio format can now be extracted and played. You will most likely need a player like VLC Media Player to play them though.
- Sidebar added which shows the different modes flagged for the selected file.

Free FSB Extractor
Download, unzip.
Select ONE .fsb file and move it to "fsbtext.exe". Now you converted .fsb -> .wav
All 240 tracks will now be available.

Program doesn't work, might be a French trojan

Both FSBExtractor and the MusicplayerEX FMOD extractor produce .wav files that work with Mediaplayer.

However, in both cases, something is wrong with the file format. If you try to generate VO from the .wav file in the toolset, it fails with the error "fmt chunk not found in .wav file". Audacity won't read it, either.

The option in FSBExtractor to create headers (or not) makes no difference.

If you only want to listen to the music and sound files, an easier way is to install the latest FMOD then double-click on the fev files.

I found the solution in another thread:

Sorry I'll do that better :)

The extractor I used is Aezay's FSB Extractor - which lives here on BSN.
The converter I used is this Free Mp3/Wma/Ogg converter.

There, bit more organized and hope that helps you.

Tara

So, a process to get sound from FSB to VO is

1. Extract to .wav using FSBExtractor
2. Convert .wav to .wav using Free Mp3/Wma/Ogg converter
3. Convert .wav to 24000Hz using Audacity
4. Generate VO in toolset

I tried the extractors as a way to listen to party banter, but most of the wavs have a bit cut off at the end. Why is that?

Are you using VLC to play the sound files? If so, it's being caused by VLC not playing the last buffer block (I think that is the cause at least), a bug that has been present in VLC for years sadly.

I'm experiencing the same thing as gwladwr, but it's only with the music files--that I've noticed so far. The only media player I have is windows media player.

The URL is dead. Does anyone have a working link to download this program?

I feel pretty dumb since no one else has asked this, and I'm usually pretty program savvy, but how do you actually USE this tool?  It doesn't come with instructions, only a ReadMe telling what it does.  I've tried every option from every menu in the tool, and nothing happens, or it just gives errors that so and so path is not set.  How do I set it?  I've looked high and low for instructions, found none, getting frustrated.  Thanks for anything.

Since the last post was 2013, I suggest asking this person

I wouldn't begin to know so asking me wouldn't do you any good!
