It's been very good in my experience on PC. There are some people whose playstyles I don't like (charging out from the upload circle for extended periods, etc.) but I have yet to run into any AFKers, or any mic-using players who have been anything but decent.
My worst experiences, such as they are, have been in lobbies. Sometimes people seem to have gone AFK without leaving a lobby, which means the game can't proceed until they are kicked - and a lot of people don't seem to have figured out the kick system. (Don't blame them, it took me a while to realize it's there. You have to click on the player in the lobby, then you get the option to vote to kick them.) Even if you can resolve it with kicking, it still takes awhile to get to that point, since it would be impolite to jump to conclusions and kick them when they might just want to spend some time leveling up or buying packs. (I echo the thoughts of another poster in some other thread who wanted to be able to see what people were doing while being unready - if anything - in the lobby.)
Edit: pkboo and anyone else seeking a friendlier environment: You might want to look for MP groups with the declared goal of a chill environment so you can build a friends list. For instance, on PC, you might want to check out
this thread. For all platforms, there's a thread for each platform in
this group.
