I have been unable to play Mass Effect due to the game not making it passed steams "launching" message. It seems that this can be fixed by installing the Bring Down The Sky DLC, the problem is that I can't get the CD Key to install the DLC as I can't find where to register the CD key for Mass Effect.
Any Ideas?

I'm having a similar problem so far. Bought the game on Origin, but I can't seem to be able to register it so I can get Bring Down The Sky.

I was just looking for this myself since I just gifted ME1 for my sister thru Steam. I'm trying to give her directions for registering and getting BDtS, but I can't find where to even register it anymore. I don't really remember how I registered ME1 here since it's been so long ago. Looking at the "My Games" section of my profile where I would guess I could see I have ME1 registered.. there is no listing for it, nor is it available to register under "register a game".
I'm wondering if the game even needs to be registered anymore? Maybe you (Luciferious and Khorrax) can just contact EA support while signed into Origin, and have them give you a key code for BDtS and just do it that way without having to register anything first.

You may not have much luck contacting EA support via email. If they don't get back to you soon, the best way is to try and get someone through live chat here - https://help.ea.com/connect-with-us but even that will loop you through to email unless perhaps you do it during weekday business hours or something. I just tried it now and couldnt get the live chat option.
BTW - These are the official directions they give at EA, but perhaps it's outdated? - help.ea.com/article/mass-effect-bring-down-the-sky-dlc-redemption
Apparently EA is giving out a generic key code to everybody for BDtS but they have to intermittently increase the user limit according to demand (or by people contacting customer support for codes). The most recent codes might be posted around here in the sticky topic in this forum.

Contacting EA support worked for me and I received a working code, so I got the DLC now.

Still haven't managed to get DLC working but I have been able to get mass effect to load.
I manually downloaded the 1.02 update and installed it and that seems to have fixed it, I've also set it to run in compatibility mode as XP service pack 3 but I'm not sure if that's made it work or just a coincidence.

Hello, guys ! I have the same problem... I bought Mass Effect 1 during the sale, bought Pinnacle station also, but I wanted to receive BdtS, so contacted EA and received the code, but still, cant install this DLC
it says "Connect to the internet". After this message, I also received "installation failed". What should I do ?
