No.

The LGBT community/muslim community face prejudice, insults, even persecution and violence because of their gender/sexual orientation/what they believe in.

Straight people/Christians don't.

It's not oppression to ask for an LGBT exclusive space. For them, it's a safe space where they can communicate freely with other people, and not be afraid of hurtful comments/homophobia. I think we straight people can deal with not being included in every little thing that goes on in the universe.

Again, i don't live in America. I live in a country where insulting or prejudice against gay people WILL get you in court.

Does it hurt your feelings, that you're not allowed to treat people like s**t?

Ever think that some people are ****?

Not because they belong to a particular group, especially if that group has to do with who they are genetically.

Then you'd be wrong. I'm really curious about how you think it is that straight people or Christians living in the western world face the sort of persecution that gay people do?

Fantasyland sounds like a beautiful country, but for those of us living in the real world, we don't want to put ourselves in situations of prejudice if we can avoid it.

Well, you know, I'm always searching for a chance to oppress dem gays! When I go on XBL, the first thing I say is "Is anyone here gay so I can blurt out a bunch of homophobic nonsense?"

Get over yourself.

If I said the N word, everyone would be up in arms.  If I said ****, no one would give a ****.  That's the culture we live in, and it's awful.  You don't notice because you're straight, and you have pop culture and media catered to your way of living.

I wouldn't be up an arms about anything. If you get upset over either, you need something more important to worry about.

Fantasyland? The Prime minister of my country is a homosexual immigrant who can't speak the language of the majority of the people. And you know what?

NOBODY HERE CARES ABOUT ANY OF THOSE THINGS.

Belgium?

I know I'm not the OP, but can this thread not get back on topic, it's becoming somewhat of a hate thread. If you don't like the purpose of the thread, then report it, I see no need to spam it and take it off course.

I say it again, there is nothing malicious about this thread, and definitely no intention in offence.

I know I'm not the OP, but it's kinda blatant there's no malice behind it.

My skin is way to thick to be offended by any of this even the diverting posts but I cannot say it hasn't provided me bounds of entertainment in some of the reactions and the "really did I just read that reaction" as a matter of fact my ribs almost hurt enough after some posts that I was worried of internal bleeding but I just took that like a Krogan.

Oh, don't get me wrong. The ignorance in this thread is hilarious, but I like the intentions of this thread and don't want it to get locked. I didn't actually think anyone here was actually getting offended, but the direction it's headed isnt a good one, and not one that is accepted in these forums.

I just reccomend getting it back on track, ignoring any comments that aren't a decent contribution and carry on with the thread.

I respect the 1st Amendment enough to not want to cry foul on what others want to express but I would request that instead of locking a thread that the mod delete the "deemed distractive posts" or to allow it to run course as if it isn't in this thread then it will be in other threads since some make their lives have purpose by doing this almost to the degree of a daily ritual. Personally live and let live

Straight people, or Christians? Because I'm well aware that there are some communities where Christians are a minority who face prejudice and oppression.

The key word there is minority. Majority cannot be oppressed.

So tell me, where are straight people in the minority?

Huh? Seriously, think before you say stuff.....Yes, the majority can be opressed by a minority....you know...for example, the apartheid in South Africa...

Just so it's clear, I live in the US.....

Yeah, having a couple of jokes thrown at Christians on SNL is rough. IT's not like with Muslim communities where the FBI and DHS spend millions to spy on them in attempts of catching come illicit activity. Get over yourself, Christians get catered to more than enough.

 I'm sorry, but please. What would you do if you weren't "oppressed?" The gay lobbies feed off of their own victimhood in a greater capacity than anything I've ever seen. Through their pathetic charade of championing tolerance (lol) I've lost any respect I may have had for the movement.

It's not about tolerance. It's not about equality. It's about feeling sorry for yourself and putting up a show. Persecution, you use the term so loosely..

You come into this thread comparing what I said to "KKK logic" and you expect everyone to know that you're from Belgium.

Here's how it is in America: most states don't even have employment non-discrimination laws for LGBT people, so you can be fired for being gay and it would be a-okay. In a lot of areas of the country, it's totally normal for authority figures to openly hate gay people. Same-sex marriage is only legal in a small few states.

It's funny how Europeans often complain about Americans having provincial attitudes when people like you assume that the entire western world has just moved past these issues.

That being said, I'm straight, but I'm more then happy to make some friends with some fellow Mass Effect fans and join in on some MP. I'm on xbox only and my gamertag is the same as my name here.

Its about a majority dictating the rights of a minority. You can't see how that unbalanced and unjust?

Justice is a myth. Balance is a myth. Neither has ever existed and neither will ever exist. If they did exist, you sure as hell wouldn't want them.

You realize you're talking about apples and oranges here? Apartheid had its roots in Colonialism and racial politics. There, the white settlers had the power, which they abused. They might not had been the majority, but they had the power, and they made the rules.

In modern democracies, majority have the power, they make the rules. Which is why straight people don't get to whine when the LGBTQ get their own exclusive spaces. They need them, straight people don't.

Your trying to appear deep in a thread that is otherwise filled with peoples very shallow opinions.
