I had to replace hard drive. The game migrated without a hitch but I lost all my downloadable content and I can't use my DLC code again. I moved the Dragon Age Origin folder and the Bioware folder. Any ideas how I recover my DLC? I still have access to the old drive.

Moving folders doesn't work. Install the new game (if the old drive is still used uin-install from there first) and bring across your saves. Your DLC is available on your original login in-game on the new computer.

If you had bothered to read the stickies in this forum, you could have either a) fixed your own problem or B) given us more info to help you better.

Well thank you for the scolding. Now I know why forums are a waste of time.

Hmmm, Shins seems to be in a bad mood tonight.  Here's the deal-- as he said, your DLC should be tied to your account.  And I agree-- migrating an installation never works with this game.  Rather, you need to back up the files in My Documents > Bioware > Dragon Age > Characters, then uninstall the game, reboot, and reinstall the game.  Once the game is reinstalled, you can manually re-copy those files into the new Character folder.

There's a link in my sig (below) to a blog post I made outlining the procedure for doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of the game.  If you don't make sure the old registry keys are cleared out, it can cause issues.

The solutions roundup and the new tech FAQ (also linked below in my sig) may provide some further help.

RI

p.s.  You can confirm that your DLC is associated with your account by using this website.  Go to the menu on the left, select "Profile" and then "My Registered Game Content".  If you have Ultimate Edition, the DLC will already be downloaded and simply needs to be authorized (I would suggest installing Patch 1.05, which fixes a lot of old DLC authorization issues).  If you have a version other than the Ultimate Edition, you'll need to let the game sync your account and re-download/re-install the DLC... which, depending on how much content you have, could take a while.

EDIT:  If none of this works, please post back with your full system specs/software info, as requested in the "Read First" post on the forum, and we can troubleshoot further.

EDIT #2:  Ah... looks like I don't have that first link in my sig anymore.  It's at http://social.biowar...484/blog/14102/

Thank you for the most helpful post. This forum did not waste my time after all. All is well with my Dragon Age and all its DLC.
