So I'm getting towards the end of my latest ME2 playthrugh. I'm trying to get to the end without any crew casualties this time through. When I look at the flowcharts various people have created, I've come across some differing opinions on one thing:
As far as I know, Legion's loyalty mission doesn't become available until after you complete the Reaper IFF mission. This means that in order to complete his loyalty mission, I will have to complete at east 1 mission AFTER the Reaper IFF mission, which by SOME flowcharts means I will lost half my crew.
Other flowcharts state that you can complete only one mission (rather than zero) after the Reaper IFF, while still suffering 0 crew casualties.
So I was just wondering what your experience has been. Also, just because I defeat the Collectors doesn't mean I stop gaining XP from additional missions correct?

Well never mind I guess I'll just play it safe, do no missions after Reaper IFF, and then not use Legion for any assignments during the final mission.

do all loyalty before the IFF, then after you awaken legion talk to him straight away to receive his heretics quest, you will then be able to do it before the collectors hit your ship
after the heretics mission, you'll be hit with the collectors
you must talk to legion straight after reactivating him or youll be hit by the collectors

So I won't be penalized at all as long as I talk to Legion straight away then? No crew members will die?

If you've completed all loyalty missions before the Reaper IFF, Legion will give you its mission right away. If you haven't, you'll still have to do one mission before you get that conversation. Once you complete Legion's mission, the crew will get abducted.
If you do the SM right after that, you'll be able to save everyone (depending on loyalties and your choices at that mission). If you wait and do some other quest in between, someone from the Normandy's crew will die.

yes, aslong as all others are done, wait till the scripted chat ends then talk to legion straight away, youll do his mission before the collectors hit, they'll attack first time you use the galaxy map after legion's loyalty quest

Well I was able to finish the game without crew deaths fairly easily this time through. Now all I gotta do for the platinum trophy (finished all achievements) is finish arrival, get to level 30, and (the big one) beat the game on Insanity.

I thought you could do 2 missions after the reaper iff to have no casualties. Legions loyalty mission and Tali's loyalty mission (so I could bring legion along)

I've been able to do Tali's LM with Legion, then Legion's LM.
The point of no return is having the scene where you are told to take the shuttle, and then the abduction sequence that follows.

That's what I said. If you've done every loyalty mission before getting Legion, Legion's will trigger right away. Otherwise, you'll have to do one in between.
