No, this is not the WoW-esque "you can only use class X this way" crap.

WoW is not like that. You actually have plenty of builds for each class and race in that game, more so than Mass Effect ever had or will ever have. So please take this out of your post, OP, as it might draw unwanted negative attention from WoW-players.

As an avid Warcraft player, I agree with his words. As of late, there seems to be only one build for each spec. Deviation from that build usually ends with you being called a bad player. But that is a topic for another thread.

I see, things must have changed after I left World of Warcraft (I used to play that game when level 60 was still the cap and highest level you could reach). Back in the days you could play each class multiple ways without being called a n00b.

Yeah. The playerbase has taken a real nosedive. But again, that is a topic for another thread.

Can someone advise me how to use the Cobra Missile Launcher? Everytime I hit top of D-pad for it, it's equipped but does not fire? Should I also press trigger? Or were I too distant? Sorry for the newbie question and thanks for answering!

Hi there. Try holding the key down, it has to "charge up", at least on PC.

After you hit up on the D-pad, aim, and press and HOLD the fire button. Watch as death follows.

Nice guide. Might want to add a bit on consumable equipment. Medi-gel for self revival. The heal kits(can't remember what they are called) and ammo packs (I always forget to use these I've got like 50 of them)

A Volus writing a combat guide is like an Elcor giving an emotional speech... :P

Seriously though, nice guide.

No. Luckily if you don't have Xbox LIVE, it has no bearing on your ability to get the best ending in the Campaign.

I prefer to use an smg for the vanguard. I find it easier to circle strafe with it and circle strafe is a good thing.

One of the biggest tips I can offer people, always stick with someone. Teams that stick together or in pairs survive much better than people who go off and do their own thing.

Really nice guide, I'd argue that Soldier's bread and butter is the concusion shot, it has saved my ass many times and makes killing tougher enemies cakewalk. I don't think I'll even level the Adenaline rush in the full game.

why your supposed to charge that's why shotguns have that bayonet mod on them that increases there  melee damage and choke that increases damage  fired from the shotgum but you should always never charge unless you have back up with you that can cover you rear as yuo charge into the enemy

Not everyone likes Shotguns. They generaly require mutiple shots, unless you hit to the head for sure and they fire very slowly. SMG can be great because you can just spam it on the direction of enemy and deal pretty good damage.
Especialy for starting Vanguards, SMG might be just what they need.

I have a bit of a disagreement with Vanguard being classified as 'hard'. While they're a bit tougher to play for a low-level Vanguard, a Vanguard with a fully-specced Charge tree with the Barrior talent(100% shields every time you Charge) is a piece of cake to play. Charge, shotgun once, Nova, Charge, shotgun once, Nova. You are literally impossible to kill. I imagine they'll get nerfed sometime in the near future. (Of course, this strategy is used for Bronze. A bit more thought is needed for Silver/Gold.)

Hi, I have a bit of a newbie question...

Can anyone tell me the total number of points available for powers by the time you hit level 20?

Just trying to plan ahead a little bit :)

At level 20, you have all of the points available minus 21. So you could put no points into one of the skills and max out all the others, or you could level one skill to 5, one skill to 3, and max the rest.

Excellent guide, you might want to add a tip about not attempting Gold level challenges until you have higher level characters.
