Why were you winded, have sore arms, and exhausted while playing a video game?

Lets not forget that at one stage, we were all beginners. ;)

Sure, being N7 80+ can turn you into a bit of an elitist, but at the same time it's great to help lower level players out.

I have to agree, you sound like a jerk. Plus, based on the medals everyone else on that match earned, I would say that none of them look like noobs, they probably just got unlucky. Finally, earning 50k XP alone isn't that uncommon, I manage it most of the time with my Krogan Soldier or Human Vanguard.

Besides, based on the medals and levels of those other players, none of them looked like noobs to me, my bet is they had a bad round that's all.

I don't participate in very many sports. Yes, I'm out of shape. No, I am not overweight. Underweight, actually.

Something about genes or some such.

Unable to exercise as well, at least until this sclerosis goes away. IF it goes away.

Point is, it was a stressful match, I was hard-pressed to un-botch it for them so they wouldn't have to miss out on XP/Credits, and I guess somewhere in there my muscles were tensed up because of it.

...The fact I was listening to SoAD didn't help much, either.

Edit: People, can we please just drop the fact that I sounded like a total ass? I admitted that I made a mistake, apologized for it, and said I would try to word things better in the future. Is that not good enough?

Edit Edit: Yes, I know I'm more in the 'average' group of players.

I guess I was just caught up in the spur of the moment. I know I'm good, decent even, but I'm nowhere near as good as some of these other high-ranking players I've seen.

I mean damn, I'm not even confident enough in my abilities to ATTEMPT Gold.

I guess I was just happy that some players learned a few things by watching my playstyle to the point that I blew it out of proportion. And I ended up paying for that.

Again, I apologize for coming across as a jerk. It wasn't my intention.

If I was trying to be modest, I would have posted this without so much as a single response after the fact.

I may seem 'too srs when gaming GRR', but that's mostly due to the way I talk. I've gained a rather expansive vocabulary over the years, and most people think I'm being a Serious Steve when in fact, I'm just talking like I usually do.

I'd rather be myself and make a few friends, instead of acting like someone I'm not and make a bunch of friends who will no doubt learn later that it was all a lie.

And as for 'fun', I don't get serious at all. I just mow down as many Cerberus troops as I can, and if a teammate falls, I'll help them up and hang back to make sure they stay alive.

There's a rather fine line between 'serious' and 'teamwork'.

Edit: Unintentional doublepost. Sorry about that.

lol this has to be intentional trolling?

I've played some matches with DE_Polaris too...I think I actually had one of them bug out on me and was stuck on the barricade where you spawn in on one of the maps and ended up having to leave the match early due to not being able to be an effective team member because of the glitch. I have those issues a lot for some reason (including my guns disappearing and becoming unusable), so if you see me in-game and I drop out early that's more then likely the reason why and I hope that the devs have done some serious bug squashing before this game launches to eliminate that from happening in Live.

Yeah, I remember some of that match too. I've gotten stuck on a ladder myself once before. S'not fun at all. Thankfully it unstuck me a while after, but I got my butt handed to me a few seconds later.

I'm generally not as bad of a guy as I seem.. Or at least I try not to be. I hope that I was a decent enough teammate in your eyes, I hate feeling like I'm worthless when it comes to that. I guess that's where the initial arrogance comes from when I talk to people.

"Newbies" don't annoy me on a bronze or a silver match, as I can understand them. If they are new (or not very good players), they logically play on the lowest difficulty.

However, if a "newbie" joins a Gold match I'll be a little annoyed, since you really need 4 average/good players to succeed in that difficulty!

Oh, as a sidenote that has nothing to do with the OP, the score one gets isn't a good way to judge a person's skill. I've played many games where my job was to just watch our back and revive downed teammates, and I only got ~15k points while others got ~40-50k points. Just saying.

Who does that?! I've been playing it enough to know not to do that and this is the first online game I've truly played. *facepalm*

And still people keep bashing me for sounding like an ass, even though I've apologized for it. Twice now, actually.

Regardless, I think it's time for me to leave.

Have a fine morning/afternoon/evening, everyone. I know I probably won't..

I'm used to it. I play Streetfighter online, and lots of asses brag about their supremecy...in a video game. So next time you can think over which thing you want to beat your chest about.

You're confusing what you intended with what people see, Polaris. What you intended was a feel-good inspirational anecdote. What people saw was you saying: "Wow, I am such a good player I managed to get newbs to play as awesomely as I do," which is rather arrogant.

You just came across in the wrong direction, as Aggie points out. Something about the wording, it was too... well, you know.

I totally understand and I'm cool with you now though, I recognize that it wasn't intentional. :)

Apparently that isn't enough though, maybe I should be lashed to a cross and burnt alive for my blasphemy.

Thank you for seeing past my unintended arrogance, though. It's nice to think that there's at least some people still out there who can see things for what they truly are, instead of what they appear to be.

As far as I could tell you were fine and I really have no quarrel with you at all...my main purpose for posting this is to say that this game is in a demo at this point that is obviously littered with bugs. People shouldn't be so quick to judge others as n00bs just because of their low score or not following the pack around. They could be glitching out on their end and have no way of communicating it to anyone. Just be a bit more willing to cut people some slack before running them over with the high horse...

Whoa hate for the OP something fierce.

You did good work OP. I know that in my first few games I'm deeply thankful for the more experienced players who kept me alive, covered my flanks, taught me how to move etc.

I try to pay the favour on by playing with some newbies and looking after them from time to time.

Aye, I'm just happy they learned to stay on the move.

The first match we played together, they all just sat in one spot, only moving to get out of the way of a rampaging Phantom or Atlas, hence why I assumed they were new.

I'm especially glad that this tactic is what kept them alive in the resulting Silver match afterwards.

Edit: Funny. This quote comes to mind, now that I mention this.

Man, this is the internet. When text is the only way you can communicate with others, word choice and structure becomes crucial in putting forth your intended message, and it is extremely easy for what one says to be misconstrued. Some pepole will automatically assume you intended things exactly like they appeared and other people will give you the benefit of the doubt if you clarify things later. Don't worry about the people who are bad-mouthing you. You've cleared up the misunderstanding and apologized, there's nothing else you can do. If they believe you, great. If not, that's their problem, not yours. :)

I disagree. Camping works better in this game.

Unless you are chasing objectives, it's best to find a decent place, and let them come to you. Running and gunning is too risky.

This game rewards teamwork, not individuals.
