 *Spoiler about her appearance*

I'm just wondering why EDI's new body has metal hair. Surely it would make more sense for the head to be bald, and have some kind of wig-like hairpiece on top. I mean, the explanation of EDI's very-human-body apparently is that the body was designed to be an infiltration unit. So surely it would mimic human appearance.

Fair enough, the hair models have always looked bad in ME, so hair looks like some kind of plasticine helmet, instead of having single strands. But surely if you put gameplay/graphics/whatever aside and looked at the actual world of ME, human hair would still be made up of lots of strands.

I know the 'infiltration unit' body explanation is paper thin anyway, but it seems even more pointless that it would have metal hair.

It doesn't make sense, nor do "her" metal boobs. The whole thing is just a bad idea.

Its odd enough the AI made with reaper tech has a combat capable body that I'm willing to over look the metal hair...

I'm glad she has metal hair over real hair. She doesn't need to be more "sexy" than she already is. ME3 has made me hate EDI.

Why? Not sure, but according to the script it can divide itself in individual strands when she's in her incognito, fake human mode.

We hate characters based on their design now?... Oh wait, never mind, we always do that.

No, I hate her because a body is unnecessary. She is an AI program in a ship, not a person to walk around and chat with people.

Her character is no different though, stationed on a ship, or not.

Plus, she was always chating with people, or at least one person anyway.

EDI was great as the ships AI giving her a body to walk around the ship opens up some interesting things but making that body battle capable is just off putting.

Oh, I wouldn't want her to have real hair. I just think it would make more sense if her head was bald.

@spoiledrotten, it can divide itself into individual strands? That seems unecessarily high-tech.

That's because it's an a**pull. I see no logical reason for such a feature, but it's in the script.

They probably designed her first and then wrote stuff around that.

Well I'm glad you like her, but I hate her.

My biggest question on this matter is where the body came from in the first place...don't think the Alliance would have been to keen on giving an AI a weaponized body

I imagine so, especially when the first line of description on her page (in the artbook) is all "EDI needs to have a sexy body". I'm still looking forward to seeing EDI again, but all this unecessary crap is... well, unecessary.

@Tom Lehrer, unless I'm very much mistaken, I think it's supposed to be from TIM/Cerberus.

Well that is interesting, wonder were it was being kept during ME2 :?

Personally I don't understand what the big deal is. What they did with EDI is sort of a scifi staple in many respects, I mean look at Tricia Helfer's best known role. Andromeda had the same thing, which may very well be where the influence came from. As to why there was a platform available, I have no idea but I imagine we'll find out in game. As to her appearance they may have overdone it a bit, however that species reflective appearance is nothing new, even current robotics companies do it, and within the Mass Effect universe we've already seen the Geth which have some very Quarian characteristics and the VI on the citadel looks like an Asari.

It can divide itself into individual strands. It says so in the artbook.

I like the idea of EDI having a 'avatar' to interact with the crew with but in the context of the ME verse who would ever give an AI one that can use weapons?
