I agree on the random enemies part. Mainly because when you don't know who the enemies are, it makes the game more unpredictable. It's different when we've already predefined enemies where we can make a full preparation for it (e.g: picking the right class, the right equipment etc etc). But if it's random, you'll have to do with what you have at that time.
Yeah, if certain types of enemies are immune to stasis for example, and you have an asari adept to use against phantoms...well suddenly that person becomes a liability for the wave considering the squishiness.
It really depends on how well fleshed out the other enemies are in multiplayer.
