OMG This is horrible. My PC is not fast enough to run ME 3.

I was seriously surprised how much the demo lagged. My laptop runs ME 2 fine (high settings with dynamic shadows on) with a steady framerate over 40 and I read that if my computer can run ME 2 then it shouldn't be a problem with ME 3.
But in the demo it lagged so much even with resolution down and AA /Shadows off.

This are are my specs:

Intel Core i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz
4 GB RAM
GeForce GT 540M  512MB

I guess the culprit is my video card.

If you go to this site and select Me3 Demo from the list it will compare your system to the game's requirements so you can see what specifically you need to upgrade.

I doubt it.
  • Have you tried running ME2 recently?
  • How many programs have you installed since the last time you ran ME2?
  • How many programs are set to start with your computer when you boot it?
  • Do you have iTunes installed?
  • What is the resource usage of Origin (it's beta and I've read at least one person has some crazy high resource usage because of it)
  • How many programs did you have running in the background?
Hope one of these is your problem, feel free to ask for clarification on any of them.

Also try defragging your hard drive and doing a system maintenence (CCleaner) to see if there are any out of date or old registries or programs taking up resources.

You should easily run this game, something is screwy.

Just make sure you have the latest drivers and windows updates for everything...especially Nvidia.

Seconded, especially at laptop resolutions. All these other guys' suggestions are good too. A good free program for accomplishing most registry fixes, defrags, and system optimizations is called Advanced System Care Free. There's a paid version too but generally you don't need it.

Do you have two graphics cards? I have a laptop with similar specs and the first time I ran ME3 demo it said that I couldn't run it. Ends up my computer kept the integrated Intel graphics instead of switching to my nvidia gt 555m. After adjusting it in the nvidia control panel, ME3 worked like a charm.

if you have nvdia go to nvdia control panel, go to program setting, select me 3 demo, then instead of global or integrated select the nvdia one.

Update your graphics card drivers, update your directx, update your c++ runtimes and check your system resources being used while running the demo. Also re-install demo or download and re-install in case something has corrupted maybe. That's what I would all do at this stage.

^This.

Make sure you're not running on integrated graphics, "power saving" graphics, "performance mode" or any other setting that makes games unplayable. If you're using ATI, you should set it to manual anyhow (a'la Acer Timeline notebooks).

ME3 Demo actually runs a smoother at higher settings for me than ME2 did.

Why?  Because you have an underpowered laptop?  :)

This is pretty much me, I am a console gamer and my laptop is pretty low-tech. But imagine Mass Effect on a laptop. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
