OMG This is horrible. My PC is not fast enough to run ME 3.

I was seriously surprised how much the demo lagged. My laptop runs ME 2 fine (high settings with dynamic shadows on) with a steady framerate over 40 and I read that if my computer can run ME 2 then it shouldn't be a problem with ME 3.
But in the demo it lagged so much even with resolution down and AA /Shadows off.
This are are my specs:
Intel Core i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz
4 GB RAM
GeForce GT 540M 512MB
I guess the culprit is my video card.
There is definitely something weird going on here. You should have no problems running ME 3 maxxed out. My main gaming PC is dead (Q6600 + GTX260) so at the moment I am using my clapped out Core2Duo + 8800GTS and only 2gbs of RAM. I thought I would give the demo ago since this PC will be back in the cupboard once I build my new gaming PC. I got something like 30 - 40fps throughout the entire demo all settings on and at 1920 x 1080.
Now if a 2.4ghz dual core CPU and ancient GPU with just 2gbs of RAM can do it I am at a loss as to why your laptop can't. The only thing I can think of is there may be a potential overheating issue, if the laptop is getting too hot then generally performance gets sacrificed to help laptops deal with heat.

I have the exact same gpu as him but weaker processor and I could run it. He just need to change the setting from global setting to high-performance Nvdia processor. Before I did that my demo also ran slow.charmingcharlie wrote...

Once you go home theatre center desktop, you never go back. Actually, I have an xbox too, I only buy exclusives for it though. When given the chance, I always go PC for maximum quality. As for the OP: you should be good to go after that integrated avoidance advice.
Nothing like my customized PC tower placed in the theater room and hooked up to the system. PC gaming on 60" screen in full surround!

Make sure you are not running discrete graphic card. It looks a world better than 360 version.

I'd try to snag some drivers from NVIDIA's website if possible. Ditch the Dell/HP/Whatever certified drivers. But it can also be sound drivers, or something you may not think directly related to a framerate issue. It might take some troubleshooting.

Do you have two graphics cards? I have a laptop with similar specs and the first time I ran ME3 demo it said that I couldn't run it. Ends up my computer kept the integrated Intel graphics instead of switching to my nvidia gt 555m. After adjusting it in the nvidia control panel, ME3 worked like a charm.
YES I did this and it worked!!! The frame rate shot up to 60. Even with AA and shadows enabled the lowest it goes is 40fps. Thanks!!!

I hope the full game runs more smoothly on a system that doesn't break a sweat playing most recent releases (haven't tried BF 3 yet but this isn't exactly a dedicated gaming rig). The demo gets chuggy at the start of mp (to be expected), and in spots throughout sp. It also chugs through certain parts of cutscenes.

No. CYRI is wrong most of the time and is in fact so inaccurate that I think it was made with the purpose of trolling its users. You should never use it or recommend it.wolfsite wrote...

If you go to this site and select Me3 Demo from the list it will compare your system to the game's requirements so you can see what specifically you need to upgrade.

how legit is this site?
on the graphics card comparison theres a link to check your drivers but it need you to download something first
Is this 100% cool, malware, or cool but it will force some crappy tool bar on my browser

That's a good tip for singleplayer but in co-op you kinda need the overlay to chat directly with the people you're playing with because of the lack of text chat in the demo build.LGTX wrote...
If you're experiencing framerate drops, try disabling the Origin UI overlay in the game from the client's settings. One of my friends had the issue, and after doing this he's running the game fine.

It's lack of text chat VS framerate issues which can and will compromise your online play and possibly hinder the entire team in the long run. Priorities =)Fredvdp wrote...

Who games from a laptop? How warm does your laptop get? Try downloading a temperatur manager and see if it gets too hot. Heat can cause lag.
I know what you're saying about heat dissipation from the confined space within laptops. I use my laptop at work so it makes sense for me in that regard, however I've been playing ME2 for almost a year on my Dell Studio XPS 16 and it runs way quieter than any gaming rig and hardly gets warm at all even after 3 or 4 hours. Now I've recently acquired a very high spec Dell XPS 15 (better spec'd than the same priced Alienware) and I haven't used it much yet but it runs Skyrim and ME2 just fine at maxed out settings and the ME3 demo at very near close to that (it didn't like it at full HD very much). As for how hot and loud the new machine gets after a few hours I shall find out when the full version of ME3 is released but for now, laptops are great since you can take them anywhere.
But yes, gaming on a laptop can be a good experience provided you buy one that is made with gaming in mind.

Hey OP, I'm running specs nearly the same as yours, only my laptop is a bit newer and has buckets more RAM. I reduced most of my chug by turning off shadows but it seems that doesn't help you much. I'd follow the suggestions of the others and do a bit of spring cleaning, then try again.

Strange I had ME3 demo chugging on my laptop as well with a GT555M @ 1080p which I wasnt expecting. And this is a brand new laptop and it was still chugging, i7 and 8gigs of ram. I was quite honestly surprised. Hope the full game is more optimized for sure, cant run it on max settings right now.
Just a small suggestion since i have the same graphic card and the game runs smoothly for me, well you may want to try forcing your PC to use the full power of your graphic card:
- Nividia
- Search for "Nvidia Setting", it should have come with your computer. Open the program
- Go to 3D setting, Select the "Manage 3D Settings"
- Now click the "Program Settings" Tab
- Click the "Add" Button
- Navigate to "File Path..\\Origin\\Mass Effect 3 Demo\\Binaries\\Win32" and click on the "MassEffect3Demo.exe"
- Now you're free to decide how the graphic cards handle the program.
- Underneath the above option, you should find the "Select the preferred graphics processors for this computer"
- Tell it to choose "High Performance NVIDIA processor" it may vary, but the idea is the same
- Dont forget to look at the bottom left and click the "Apply" button
