I have noticed alot of haters towars Garus. Why? I like Garrus. He and Shepard have a bond, they have been through quite a lot together. In my playthroughs, Garrus is always one of my SM. I am really just curious as to all the hate.

This isn't my personal opinion, but I think some people hate him because of the preferential treatment he gets over other squadmates. Mind you, Tali is probably more hated, because Garrus is actually pretty cool. The irrational hatred is owed to other people's favourites getting the shaft.

On the other hand, I've never been able to understand why so many people have an irrational hatred toward characters like Ash or Miranda, when their fanbases don't really do anything to offend. Still, different tastes for different people, I guess.

Yeah, Garrus is my favorite but we've been seeing him a lot, with a serious lack of (not leaked) info about other characters like Thane.

I don't hate him at all. In fact, Garrus is my favorite alien squadmate (along with Liara).

However, I'm about sick of seeing his face plastered over every single piece of promotional material and having him shoved down my throat for 3 games, when I'm willing to trade him for someone else. I get that he's Shepard's chosen sidekick, but good god, I can do without team Dextro for a game or two.  Let me pick someone from ME2 for my ME3 squad.

You must be new, welcome, op. Do not worry, there's no hate for Garrus. He is the guy the most loved in all polls. You are just on the bsn here, some hate everyone for anything, and they love ****ing about things.

Just ignore them about every character, don't give a damn about their opinion.

Simple; Garrus is getting more attention than most of the other characters because he's popular. The hate towards Garrus is mostly against his popularity, and less of his character. The same can be said of Tali. If everyone got equal treatment, there would be less hatred toward these two. But what's done is done, and there's nothing we can do about it.

I love him too but I can understand where they are coming from.

In Mass Effect 1 my brother hated both Garrus and Tali. He didn't like how whiny Garrus was (seriously, that was his reasoning) and he didn't like that Tali lacked any sort of easily discernable character.

He was telling me how he was always a jerk to Garrus. Then in ME2 his Shepard and Garrus are basically written as friends regardless of how you treated him in ME1. You aren't given the option to be a jerk ever. I think for some people who didn't like him in ME1 this felt jarring.

Also, I think ever hating a character because you dislike the fanbase is just silly. If you liked the character and are appalled that you have anything in common with a whiny, ignorant, or in some way unappealing fanbase I feel like at that point you should do some soul searching and not some trolling.

I like team dextro and Liara, but I really don't like how they take up most of the marketing

The amount of pandering Dextro gets is annoying on it's own. When you couple that with the fact that the character is bland as a rock in ME2, it's clear why I can't stand the guy.

I thought everyone loved him...except me.
I don't mind him, just wish when he says he sees my paragon point of view he meant it rather then constantly going renegade and asking me why I let them live.
But I do love me some calibrations, that means something dirty right?

He's the lowest of my least favourite squad mates.
Liara<Jacob<<<<<<Garrus/Ashley, Both I don't mind but don't love, Ashley probably marginally lower since she never makes it.

There's Ashley/Kaidan, Vega, Liara, and Tali they could market. Garrus is in every single ad for ME3 (barring the recent trailer). I can't watch a friggin youtube video without seeing the GameStop ME3 ad with Garrus.

Devs need to show some other people. Frankly at this point I'd think I only had 4 squaddies to chose from if I did nothing but watch the vids (Garrus, Liara, Vega and Ashley).

I think we've had enough Liara. I'd argue she is about as oversaturated as Garrus, if not more so at this point.

We were without her for 1 whole game. Garrus (And Tali) however...

In ME1 he was pretty much spineless. Yeah, he was "renegade", but confronting him on it always made him nod in agreement with no rebuttal.

In ME2 they retconned the paragonning of Garrus and made him "renegade", but they went too far. He's dangerously reckless, arrogant, and impatient. The worst part is that he thinks these are admirable qualities. He takes a team of roughly twelve people to attack an entire space station run by gangs. No surprise they all end up dead, and when you find him stuck in his hole all he does is act like he's god's gift to everything and like the only reason the station isn't a haven was because of Sidonis, when actuality it is entirely his fault for choosing such a hopeless mission in the first place. He's a terrible leader with no regards for the safety of the people he's supposed to protect. He's trying to fight for ideals that I don't think he really understands.

Then throw into consideration the fact that he's entirely ignoring his dying mother and the rest of his family just so he can go off and feed his own ego playing space cowboy and griping about C-Sec's red tape.

I could never hate Garrus!  & I honestly didn't see any extra treatment on his part in ME2, I believe he should have had more dialogue. But alas, He was too busy "Calibrating" the Normandy.. XD

He's static. In Mass Effect 1 he hated rules, wanted revenge against someone who'd commited an injustice and he couldn't catch them, he finds them and wants to kill them. flash forward two years, he's found on Omega where there are no laws, he wanted revenge against someone who commited n injustice and when he finds them he wants to kill them. He has no connections to anyone in high places beyond Shepard. wrex is king of the Krogans, Ashley and Kaidan are Spectre's, Liara's the Shadow Broker, and Tali's got connections to the admiralty board if she's not exiled. Garrus only has Garrus. Also No matter how hard you paragon him in the first game he ALWAYS ends up on Omega because he quit C-Sec again. After 20 playthroughs I wanted to knock him out and leave him at C-sec.

I don't hate him because he's still got ME3 to change, and he's still useful in combat but so far the only change Garrus has gone is that he's got a scar on the right side of his face from a missle he took on Omega.
