People always call him your "bro" but I thought bros were like colorful and interesting instead of super-dull. Sorry, Garrusheads! I've never liked Garrus and Shepard's friendship. Also, for anyone who knows me IRL (no one), if I'm ever brought back from the dead, please do not say the following to me: "Well, they already killed you once, but that only pissed you off!" Very lame. You'll have just pissed me off even more.

I don't like Batman either, so this character just wasn't meant for me.

I don't hate Garrus. I just don't like the personality switch they did in ME2. I actually prefer ME1 Garrus to ME2Garrus. Now Tali...didn't like her in either games.

I don't really hate any of the characters. It comes down to personal preferences, but for me each character has their pros and cons just like in real life.

Tali is my favorite, not really sure why but I like her and that's enough of a reason for me, followed by Legion who is a geth that talks, what else to you need from him?

Miranda seems kinda stuck up and snobbish early on but she sorta mellows out later on so I can live with it.

Liara is fine, she doesn't seem to have too much of a personality in me1 but after LotSB she seems a bit more emotional (can't really blame her for how the 2 years went).

Jack is very emotionally disturbed, reminds me a little of some of my closest friends so she is cool in my book.

Garrus I tolerate, not my favorite character but he seems way too blood thirsty and willing to break the rules to catch people who break the rules.

Wrex and grunt have their moments, though I prefer Wrex to grunt.

Jacob is very uninteresting, he has too much soldier in him, but I don't hate him.

Mordin I like, he has some funny moments throughout the game, and I love his song.

Zaeed is an angry merc, kasumi is an energetic klepto.

Thane is pretty cool too, he kills but is all paragon about it.

Samara was the least interesting from me personally, she is very emotionally disattached.

Kaidan follows along the same line of Jacobs character but he seems to have a bit more personallity.

Ashley is hit an miss, she seems like she could be a good person if she didn't come off as a racist towards other aliens and stopped quoting random poetry in the middle of conversations.

But like I said that is just my opinion.
I wouldn't mind any combination of the list in my group, but if I had to pick 5 to choose from, it would be Tali, Legion, Wrex, Thane, and Jack

I don't understand how anyone could hate Garrus or Tali. They are the most interesting characters in ME2. Plus, I trust them more than anyone else on my ME2 team since we've been through a lot together in ME1. Only person I would trust more is Liara. Wrex I like but I get the feeling he isn't completely loyal. Legion is another one of my favorite characters but it is a Geth, I don't completely trust it. Jack is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen.

Garrus is bland as a character doesn't really add anything to the story, yet he shows up in all 3 games as a major character. Miranda would be a far better choice and at least Tali has connections in the Admiralitty Board to justify being a major character in the 3rd game. Your forced into a bromance with him even if you don't recruit him in ME1.

When Grunt says he hates Turians, Shepard can only say "that's wrong" or "leave Garrus alone" but Shepard can ridicule and threaten Grunt.the entire game.

I don't understand Garrus is cool always found him annoying and whiny, just like "Wrex is a badass" when he was all talk,
"Tali has  a great personality" when she was just a walking encyclopedia.

Plus aliens have lower expectations  on bsn and people look pass their flaws more easily them human squaddies

I'm very new to the Mass Effect series. I only finished ME1 last week and I'm maybe around 25% into ME2. I see a lot of references to "Team Dextro" for Shep & Garrus. What does "dextro" mean?

"Team Dextro" refers to Garrus and Tali, actually (see my sig). They have dextro-DNA, while no other squadmates do.

well i have many reasons to not like him
1. fan service blah blah already been said
2. im stuck with him for 3 games while most of my favorites get 1
3. forced bromance bullsh*t( are you kidding me)
4. he whines too much and fails at all his goals
5. his fanbase constantly asking "how can you hate garrus" is also a big one

That's called character development.

I love him too but I can understand where they are coming from.

In Mass Effect 1 my brother hated both Garrus and Tali. He didn't like how whiny Garrus was (seriously, that was his reasoning) and he didn't like that Tali lacked any sort of easily discernable character.

He was telling me how he was always a jerk to Garrus. Then in ME2 his Shepard and Garrus are basically written as friends regardless of how you treated him in ME1. You aren't given the option to be a jerk ever. I think for some people who didn't like him in ME1 this felt jarring.

Also, I think ever hating a character because you dislike the fanbase is just silly. If you liked the character and are appalled that you have anything in common with a whiny, ignorant, or in some way unappealing fanbase I feel like at that point you should do some soul searching and not some trolling.

Garrus was a massive whiner in ME1 though. Every conversation was about how much CSec sucked and how he wished he could be a Spectre. :P

I find the term "whiny" is often applied to any character that the poster does not like. I can't think of a single squadmate who I haven't seen that term applied to.

I dunno about that, I never found Jacob particularly whiny. In fact, he was probably the character who was most reluctant to talk to Shepard about his past.

Garrus is actually my favorite. Doesn't stop me from calling out the fact that he whines/complains, alot. Which is all the more ironic that Kaidan was the squadmate who got bashed the most for it.

Why hate any of the characters? I like them all just the same.
