A quick suggestion, would it be possible to scale back the difficulty for multiplayer to match the player or players who are playing? I know there are bronze, silver and gold difficulties but for anyone who wants to play solo or with less then four players it is quite hard to start off or accomplish that many waves which makes it nearly impossible to level up even on bronze.

The Bronze/Silver/Gold separation is enough. You shouldn't be doing this solo and doing it with two or three players isn't that hard, depending on difficulty. If you're doing Gold, you should be trying to play the highest difficulty available, not a toned-down version because you couldn't find three friends.

Finding friends is not a issue, but thanks for raising my self-esteem. . . I'm suggesting making it playable for people who want to solo the new multiplayer component (after all Mass Effect has been a one player game thus far and I'm sure there are people who do not wish to play with other people but do want to complete every part of the game) and or people who do not have internet access.

They should add AI bot's in my opinion. Make them fairly stupid though, maybe ME2 level of intelligence, the new ME3 squadmates would make a solo run of even silver fairly easy.
Bronze is easy enough to solo once you have a decent character build + weapons.
