we've only seen two kids in this entire series, and they both have been killed.

In both cases I saw no body, in the game I saw a shuttle destroyed, in the cgi I saw an empty space where the child had been playing.

No BW is killing kids because we asked for kids to be in 3 and since 3 is about reapers eating, killing, and enslaving people (hence we have to stop them) kids are part of the population and as such aren't immuned to reaperfication. The kids serve to show the evilness of our enemy they don't say aw look at the poor 10 year old he's sooo cute lets not kill him, but his parents TOTALLY THERE GUT EM'. I did tell everybody before if you want BW to have kids shown in 3 you better be up for implied child deaths too.

A few games to date games that have implied child death:

Velvet assassin (go to the ghetto see the little kids abandoned shoes, and small dead bodies with blood on the wall)

Siren aka forbidden siren ( travel with a young 6 - 8 year old girl if shibito find her she implied dies)

Assassin's creed rev. (woman and baby both die)

Games that have actual kid death

Fable (well kind of the guys kid gets turned into a trollish imp thing and you have to kill it)

Dragon age (you kill Conor)

So killing kids in games like movies, books, ect is nothing new.

Don't forget Dead Space 2, you kill hundreds of mutant toddlers and 5 year olds.

Modern Warfare 3 had a cutscene where a little girl got killed by a car-bomb. And in Bioshock you can kill the Little Sisters.

I could never bring myself to kill a little sister...

If it's done well then it can work. But in the demo (not seen the trailer) It's clumsy and amaturish in the delivery and the "kid" is just not convincing.

I think kids are perfect .It's not only because of their innocence and  naivety.

BUT

Because they don't belong to any Human caste system. So for the eyes of everyone they have a lot of worth. Everyone can identify to a kids. It's the truth ..

It's not some sort of  Bioware attempting some  kinds of propaganda to make you cry .. You guy are paranoiac and overthink stuff.

If Bioware wanted to sell the death of someone, then expanding the intro, letting us get to know a lot of people at the Alliance HQ and then seeing them all die painfully, that would sell the reapers as a threat.

Didn't see that in modern warfare and didn't get too far in deadspace too much vertigo Posted Image but you guys just reminded me we also have silent hill you kill shadow children all over the place with guns and pipes then we also have rule of rose your child character with a teenage persona kills all her friends! I think people are flipping out because its BW there seems to be a double standard some games are on the OK list while others must stay off of it.

As far as I'm concerned its BWs game so if they want to imply child death they can do so and if I as the player have a problem with it its my problem not theirs I either buy the game and deal with it or I don't. For instance I don't play god of war because of all the naked chicks I have to rip their heads off. I don't play GTA because i don't want to be a gangsta.

One kid dying in-game or trailer is OK, but - for God's sake - not in every damn game that is released recently. I think I start to hate Techland after they released that trailer for Dead Island. It's their fault.

Unless bioware can match this, I don't see much emotion coming my way. Showing a kid die is sort of a cheap way to get emotion, doesn't really bother me, but it won't effect me.

I liked the trailer, but they failed to make me feel anything for the kid. Too much uncanney valley, I was busy thinking (wow that kid is weird looking) to feel bad for her.

Although I did find the end sequence to the video very cool. Combat vids is always something bioware does right, the trailer was blur right?

Wow guys, I dislike coming into these forums more and more, for every positive topic there seems to be five negative ones, after watching the trailer(several times) I'm more hyped & I cant wait to see the extended cut, but coming on here is such a buzz kill. All is see is Bioware is doing this to appeal to the COD crowd or Bioware is doing this for shock value or Bioware is ruining ME because of x, y, & z.

I believe that using a child in the trailer really helps drive the point of whats at stake in the war, it gives the situation a more human/personal touch, because regardless of some peoples opinions that focusing on earth/humanity is silly, Shepard & we the players are human so while all life in the galaxy is at stake it helps in my opinion when you see something as innocent a a child being killed without mercy, it shows that the reapers take pity on no one.

Excellent job guys & gals at Bioware, & to the team who made the trailer. March 6 can't come soon enough!

I thought it was kind of cheap, just like your sibling in DA2. Looks like BioWare has forgotten that in order to care for someone you have to know him/her and that applies to fictional characters too. I know they wanted to get a point across as fast and effectibly as possible but still it was the easy route.

Following the child's inevitable demise, I was disappointed there was no frame of the broken star fighter toy, accompanied by an appropriately histrionic piano solo, just in case I had any vomit left.  It really struck that acerbic 'babies first sci-fi' tone, which it was plainly going for.

Bravo.

Unless you live in the UK. They made the kids invisible in the UK version (FO2) but you could still see the conversations of some it was freaky.

I don't really care that they killed a kid I do care it was cheap and not well done.
