So, when I've been playing the demo, there's this odd glitch that occurs with the textures, from the characters to the environments.

What happens is, that the moment the game starts, even from the starting screen, the textures start to strobe (kind of). All sorts of geometric shapes appear on the textures, like there's something underneath that is colliding with the external layer of textures. It's like a... graphical spasm of some kind.

This has been a persistent problem with Mass Effect 2 as well, and now it's making its way to Skyrim.

I've got an Asus G73Jh gaming laptop.

To me, it sounds like a heat-related issue, maybe try running CPUID or something similar, and check your GPU temperatures when the problem starts to happen.

If that doesn't help, then all I can really say is check that your drivers are updated, blah blah blah.

Texture clipping is an issue in ME2 that I haven't seen in ME3.

Posting a laptop brand and model number is giving us homework. I don't want to Google that laptop to check out the specs and it should be quite easy for you to just post them here. Just open dxdiag or the ME3 configuration utility to look at your specs.

Sorry, I went to bed after I posted this, was too tired >.>. I tried to do what research I could, and, well... The most I could get is that it's a problem with ATI cards, as the drivers that AMD releases apparently continue to screw with all sorts of things with these games until the developers for those games release a fix.

I don't know... Anyone have any ideas?

To add, I downloaded a hardware monitor, and temperatures seem pretty normal. The fans are working fine. Sooo...

Could you be more specific? Most 5000 cards are supported, some aren't. Unfortunately both Dxdiag and the Mass Effect 3 configuration utility are limited to the series so I hope you can find another way to figure it out. The first result I found by Googling your laptop was an HD 5870 which should be more than enough, but there are quite a few different laptops that contain the same model number so I could be wrong..

Reinstalling video drivers might be a possible solution but don't take my word for it.

And the next question can seem quite trivial, but how bad is it?

Specific? 5870. Sorry.

Well, the posts I found simply referenced "ATI drivers". There weren't too many specifics unfortunately. I attempted re-installation of the drivers several times, using Driver Sweeper each time. It still does it. I also ran a "Can you run it?" test (My hardware passed with flying colors), and downloaded their software that shows which drivers need to be updated. My bios is out of date, so that may have something to do with it, but I'm not sure.

It's pretty bad. It covers essentially all of the textures available, from characters to background, to ships, etc... The flickering is rather intense. It doesn't cause the game to crash or the laptop to overheat or anything. But it is immensely obnoxious when basically the entire game is have a graphic spasm right in front of you.

The problem is that this is a fairly new release and I haven't read about this issue anywhere else. Let's hope a developer reads this.

Also, under no circumstances should you ever use "Can You Run It". It's a ridiculously inaccurate tool. They were right this time but they also tend to say you meet the minimum GPU just for having the right features. Every new GPU would pass according to them, but new doesn't always mean good. This isn't relevant in your case but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Thank you for the warning, I should have known better >.<.

Wellllll, I had another go at reinstalling the video card drivers and making sure to set all of the options to "application managed". It sorta kinda lessened the flickering, but it still occurs.

I have the exact same issue, flickering textures in menu's and frequent texture tearing, flickering and distortion. Called EA support about it and none of their idea's fixed this, anyone experiencing this or have any idea how to address this?
