Visit Foras for WoW or EVE. Remember the foras for Everquest and DAoC? Or the foras of ever major gaming studio that got taken over by EA? PvP foras ? Political discussion boards. /b/. Hell even Facebook has worse rhetoric, outbursts and ad hominems.

This forum is civil compared to most.

I don't like being negative, I'm generally a positive person, but with every bit of info I read/watch about ME3, I just get so angry and disappointed.  I'm sorry for being so negative but I went from having such high, positive expectations for this game (to bring the best of ME1 and ME2 and merge them together to form ME3), to getting depressed with each new info release.

this CGI trailer is the latest in a long line of depressing marketing for the game in an attempt to attract the KABOOM EXPLOSION kiddie crowd and i'm so sick of it now. It's just so obvious it's embarrasing for BioWare. I feel embarresed FOR BioWare.

EA really has cut off your balls.

I'm angry. Sorry.

If you don't like what you see don't buy the game and move on with your life, instead of wasting your time spamming complaints. So far I haven't read anything from you that hasn't been said to Bioware and us at least 20 or 30 times.

I really don't understand. Sure, they did a huge mistake with DA2, imho, and long before game release I was a huge critic of it and I still mantain the very same opinion, but that is because I loved Origins so much that it really hurt when most of what made Origin a masterpiece was removed. (Most, not all, so people with reading disorder can understand that despite anything I actually don't think DA2 is a bad game, just it is not in the same league as Origins).

Now, ME3 has improved from ME2 and ME1. And a lot too. I have no doubt about full dialogue choices in the full game. Otherwise the game modes Story/RPG/Action would be pointless. And in no way I let miself be disappointed with a game that has not been released yet because of some CGI trailer. That would be stupid of me.

What's so bad about it? Every new piece of info gets me more pumped. Nothing seems to have deviated from the style of the first two games, so what the hell is the problem>

I'm the first to jump on peoples unreasonable expectations.. But in this case (based on the demo) it's not even meeting the quality established by previous titles. That's not unreasonable, that should be a given.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

A lot of people living in "wishful thinking" land are going to be joining the cacophony come release. It's Dragan Age 2 all over again.

ME3 marketing has sucked from the very beginning. I wonder why you've only started to complain now.

One example that really put me off: I got one of those emails from Origin advertising ME3, naturally I had the game pre ordered before I even saw that email but it literally says: "Commander Shepard! Save the Earth!"

Now I'm so bored of all the saving the earth plotlines (At least ME3 is about beating the Reapers in general - not just saving your precious planet) that if I hadn't already known about ME3, this email would ensure I wouldn't even give the game the time of day. That's how pathetic EA's marketing department really is. I mean, is there anything they CAN do right?

I agree. I wasn't really hyped up in the first place because Modern Warfare 2 killed all of my expectations for gaming but I don't like how they're making ME3 a linear game. At least they improved the character ranking system.

So it's not enough to endlessly **** and moan about the game that you haven't even played yet, now you have to complain about the ****ing commercial?!?!

Why don't you put on some big boy pants and wait to play the game and then make a judgement on whether or not it was good at that point?

Why!? Because that would make to much sense.

I must say, its getting to the point now where most 'critical posts are just used for people to whine and complain and then justify it by saying 'I have been a fan since ME1' which doesnt mean ****. So have I...I dont really get it. If the posts were like 'I dont like this because...But I do like this' which most are, there are still those rage posts about really minor things like backgrounds, water textures and holding SMGs, this is why i dont let BSN get me down, because most of it is ****ing from 'handcore' fans. They remind me of those Valley Girls I see on TV

The problem... was your expectations. You invented something... gave it value... and put your belief in that false value - and now you're afraid that the value will be revealed as false.

But you can't blame ME 3... the value was given to the series by you (and others) - and was always false.

BTW -this is a pretty solid suggestion for future life endeavors. Always be aware of your expectations... and don't let them get out of hand.

Or then you'll into some cynical bastard who thinks he's got the "real" score on how the world works... and anyone who isn't a curmudgeon just doesn't understand yet.

Reality is... "they" were wrong and they discovered they were wrong... so now they're bitter.

Best to avoid that outcome in the future - I'd recommend changing your expectations of the value of video games in general.

You are correct 100%, and I'm not saying otherwise, but my expectation, as wrong as it was, wasn't just formed out of nothing - it's formed from my experiences playing ME1 and ME2, as well as various promises from BioWare etc.

But you're right. Expect the worst and be surprised, than expect the best and be disappointed.

I played the demo. It's really good. Think of Mass Effect 2 meets Call of Duty Future Warfare. Oh is that why you're dissapointed? The game is still an RPG. It has more customisation than ME 2 and decisions will have a greater impact.

Look I was expecting "Call of Duty Future Warefare" because what other direction could "Reapers Blowing Up The Galaxy" premise take? The elements of previous games haven't been ditched. The setting has changed and the shooting has been sharpened up. I'm looking forward to it personally. I'm not expectng a masterpiece just a fitting end to an amazing trilogy with all the characters we've grown to love plus some new guys too.

In other words this is still Mass Effect. Not some trigger happy shooter. Very different to Call of Duty.

The CGI trailer we saw wasn't even in its complete form.

But really: is the CGI trailer from marketing really a cause to be upset? Let's calm down and wait for the actual game.

Well in all fairness the extended cgi trailer is probably going to have more gritty action, but it's a cgi trailer, what else would you expect? There'd be no point in going through the expense to show stuff other than action that you can make look cool, even the ME2 cgi trailer was action heavy.

But seriously people need to get over the marketing thing, "Take back Earth" is a marketing slogan just like "Fight for the Lost," nothing more.

But it's a very specifically targeted marketing thing. No aliens but reapers are featured, and  a smell most Halo-y is prevalent. These are all very deliberately chosen vectors.

You could hazard that EA and BW are reaching across barriers to new waters, or you could hazard someone has clearly forgotten their core constituency.  Both could be applicable depending on the point of view.

I really do have a terribly hard time caring about any of these threads. Initially when I started to see more articles and videos about ME3 I came on here and was assaulted by the sheer barrage of negative threads (such as yours). I'd post and I'd post about how the game wasn't even out yet and thus no one had any real cause to get upset.

I'd post and I'd post about the fact that marketing for the ME series has always been misleading. I'd comment on how assumptions were bad and insults toward other people were the absolute wrong way to present your opinion. I'd describe why people shouldn't get worked up over something they haven't experienced and about how many things Bioware have done to fix games based on fan complaint (even after joining EA).

But then I decided I just didn't care enough anymore about appeasing each and every person that got worked up over this stuff. OP if you want to believe that ME3 is going to suck donkey balls worse than Homefront go right ahead. I'm not going to stop you.

God I'm tired of these.

Almost every complaint has a basis in evidence. If you can see it, then the complaint is valid. Whether it matters to you is a totally different issue.

Happy thoughts and wishful thinking are not going to change the game. The demo is it just like it was with DA2. Are you really suprised that when the most hyped title of 2012 turns out looking like this people feel compelled to complain?

If the things they complain about don't bother you, just ignore them. But being an appologist or saying things like "It's only a demo" is only going to add fuel to the fire.

Aaaah another thread where someone expressing a completely valid negative opinion (all opinions are valid FYI) of the game is viciously flamed by the vast majority of the forum.

They hurl petty-insults and say 'you're a child'.
Say the thread is useless but post in it.
Tear down any consteructive ideas, offer no ideas at all.

Welcome to BSN.

I've learned to keep my expectations and hype low after what happened with Mass Effect 2. Sure ME2 was a good game, but it wasn't the sequel I wanted for ME1.

Just keep your expectations low.

It takes one moderator to come along and say "We cut the intro to avoid spoilers" that takes about 5 seconds.

Dragon Age 2 had the same sort of in media res intro so it's not like there is no basis for suspiscion. In that case too there were many people who said it would be "fixed" in the full release. But it turned out to be exactly the same as the demo.

Lol
I made the mistake of getting my hopes up as well
Finishes ME2 " That was awesome, I made it through the SM and none of my team died. and Miranda (my LI) quit cerberus. Cant wait for me3"
Footage of Shepard fighting Cerberus at E3 " Awesome cant wait to get the crew back together (Namely Miranda & Grunt) and take on the galaxy one last time"
Leaked script and confirmation of perma squad " Huh? whats this? WTF? But why doesnt it make sense? lol

"Ahh yes, a satisfying conclusion. We have dimissed that claim"

The moral of the story is never ever get your hopes up TC, as long as you expect the worst you can only be plesantly surprised.
