Im aware that the game is finished and this cant be changed but Im hopeful that character deaths will be handled better this time a la Mass Effect 1. Mass Effect 1 had the best approach to main character death that I can recall. Choosing between Ash or Kaiden (regardless of how you feel about them) was brilliant. You had to make a choice save one or the other. It was an example of a critical life and death decision and it was fantastic. The Wrex standoff was also pretty cool.
Flash forward to ME2. Bioware opted for quantity over quality as if the intensity would somehow be better. In this case however the deaths were arbitrary and frankly the result of exceptionally poor decisions (it was so obvious that if you didnt do the loyalty missions or upgrade the ship or send a part time biotic to maintain a huge field that people would die). Even with those decisions it was pretty random who would die. Some random character would be below deck to get impaled etc.
Here's hoping that Bioware forces us to make clear life or death decisions in which you clearly have to select a hero to live or die knowing that one of them will be sacrificed

What about Samara and Morinth? Only one of them gets to live, that was ME2's Virmire.

I just mean this thread won't go anywhere good, it will probably get locked. People are very adamant about their view on this topic.

It didn't have a big impact. With Virmire you were in the middle of a war zone and the battle was important to saving the galaxy from Saren.
Morinth and Samara it was just a battle in some old ugly apartment over two Asari where both could kill you easily and neither make much of an impact on you.

the problem I had with the morinth samara thing was it was clear that the right thing to do was to save samara (at least imo) picking morinth seemed like the fun evil option. The Kaiden Ashley thing was a lot more ambiguous. Leaving that aside even if we take your point that this is on the same level as the ME1 thing it doesnt counter the issue that the other deaths were arbitrary and disappointing
