For me it's all soldiers. sentinels, vanguards,  quarian engineer.

None. They're all viable once you know how to use'em or work with'em. Some classes are more useful than others, but they can all easily serve a purpose in a good group :)

If player is good any class will work.
But some classes offers less support on gold. I would say the less helpful is vanguard(Mostly human, drell - dont know how pull is working on gold) except asari one who got stasis, which makes them phantom annihilator. Other are good.

SOldiers i would say, tho i cant seem to be able to handle them, theyre damn papertargets

With my sentinel i wont go down first usually before wave 6-7, and only when i did let my temper assault the wrong flank, too bad i ****ed up my turian and cant reset in the demo...

Once i get my infiltrator up i believe i can do some harm instead of cloaking around and rezzing

The engineers i belive could be usefull, but not in my hands

Adepts are great at suppresing a flank but a atlas will ruin their day

And vanguards are only of use in few hands, most just keep suiciding

In order:
Soldier: Fantastic dps and fire support, if the player can use it properly. Great for holding the line with a sentinel.

Sentinel: General purpose tank and damage sponge, great for helping to hold a flank with a more damage based character to provide kill shots. Can help detonate biotics and/or provide overloads. Most flexible class in the game, imo.

Vanguard: A good vanguard is a godsend, especially if you get downed and need a res. A bad vanguard is useless.

Quarian Engineer: Decent at holding the line and also flame turret as 5th squaddie. Harder to play than Human engineer, but still a useful addition to a party.Works well with Turian Sentinel, so you still have an overloader.

Not a Krogan one. I am motheringffing tank. However, Gold has made me sweat a bit before in a tight spot. Motherffing turrets just rip through anything on any difficulty.

Yeah, I'm dubious about the utility of krogan Soldiers on Gold, but I've never actually played Gold with one.

I'm not seeing the point of sentinel on gold, other classes have the same moves but a nice signature move as well. Tech Shield nerf was a bit far when you take a look at how good buffed charge and stasis are.

Sentinel: General purpose tank and damage sponge, great for helping to hold a flank with a more damage based character to provide kill shots. Can help detonate biotics and/or provide overloads. Most flexible class in the game, imo.

I havn't seen that 25%-40% help much on gold, the best way is just to not get hit and push out most dmg.

Well then, you got crappy Soldiers who don't know how to play the class then.

My friends can probably testify that my Soldier's ability to provide suppressing fire and knock enemies down to the ground with high speeds via a leveled and spammable Concussive Shot would probably keep him from being considered useless on Gold.

A Krogan Soldier is a tank if used properly.

I'd testify exactly that too. People overlook the concusion shot too much. But it goes around corners and even knocks back those enemies with shields (yes Atlas and Phantoms too).

A bad anything is useless on gold. ;)
But that's what it comes down to: Every class is as useful as the player is skilled to handle it. Some classes are easier to handle than others, though.

Vanguard is more all or nothing though. You don't get a mediore vanguard even on silver, because they've normally ended up dead in the middle of a crwod of enemies. A mediocre vanguard won't get through gold, wheras a medocre sentinel or adept might.

Crap. Damage is nerfed and so is ammo capacity. Can't aim with it at all.
Dunno if it gets better with upgrades, but it's still terrible at III.

EDIT: At least with my playstyle, where I generally aim at neck height and fire a burst until the recoil take it up to the forehead. With the rev, I have to aim at the body to ensure I get enough shots on target to do damage or use it for heavy crowds. Not really viable for the massive weight, unless you're a krogan soldier.
