Asari Adept, Human Vanguard, Human Sentinel, Human Infiltrator

Unfortunately my Krogan soldier build was stupid and I couldn't respect it : but there you have it. You got served.

We've yet to try out the Salarian Infiltrator, Drell Vanguard, Human & Krogan Soldier, Turian Sentinel and Human Adept.

The Human Adept would be brilliant for non-stop warps and CC. The Turian Sentinel with his Overload & Warp is the best as it compliments everyone elses abilities and can shred defences with super ease and the Krogan Soldier with Max Rage (Health & Armor) with Carnage maxxed would make short work of enemies at close range and he can take a lot of damage.

As for the Human Soldier, perhaps that would be different but he can take a lot of damage which is good. Also the Drell Vanguard is the only one I would say that I'm not too keen on. Definately needs more barriers on Gold. Even on Silver the Drell Vanguard's defences get shredded fast. So I agree, the Human Soldier (if he is not built correctly) isn't the best choice but the Drell Vanguard is the worst on the list for me.

I think the problem with most sentinels is that they play them as soldiers with a perma defense buff. There's a big difference between a sentinel who knows how to detonate and the extent of his survivability, and one that spends the entire round shooting from cover with tech armor on.

That is indeed another aspect of the playstyle of sentinel's that I have a problem with. By all means I am not the one to dictate how people should play online but when you have a vanguard who carries a widow sniper rifle... you just feel your stomach and willpower plummet. There's nothing saying you can't play like that but... really?! Please! Don't! Nooooo! *face melts like N*zi's in Raiders of the Lost Ark*

Sentinels come into serious play in Gold. They have no super strengths and super weaknesses, heck I find the Sentinel to be balance whenever it plays. If you have an Adept or another tech, the Sentinel can be that 'pat on the back' class or the 'essential helper' class. They should focus on removing all defences, weakening foes and helping others set up combos. Nothing quite like seeing a Centurion have his shields ripped off in one hit and leaving you clear to blast them to pieces.

Tech Armor is something I always have on as a Sentinel for the Damage Resistance but I always keep casting abilities to help others. That's what a Sentinel should do. I admit, I was a combat engineer with a shotgun but my Max Incinerate, Overload, Passive with Lvl 4 on both Drone and Fitness was very helpful to keep me alive and distract enemies on Silver.

Gold is when defence removal is essential.
Oh and @xcrunr1647, thanks. ^_^

So we can just conclude that there aren't any useless classes, as long as player is good.

So I assume you're referring to turian Sentinels, then? Because human Sentinels aren't really very good at stripping defenses - at least, against Cerberus.

You mean on other match? It's just the player who got the first place. Two different classes.

Yeah, sorry I mean the turian sentinel for that. Thanks for the correction, heh. Then again the Human Sentinel's Cryo Blast is amazing. Cryo Blast + Warp is a nice combo. Also, Warp + Throw causes a Biotic Explosion I believe, but when it comes to shields then I admit that the Human Sentinel lacks strength against it.

She didn't. I did. I was an Infiltrator one round and an Asari Adept the other round. But thank you for thinking I am an Asari. It makes me feel pretty.

My kill messages say "Biotic explosion" when I throw someone with the warp debuff, at least.

Warp + Throw = BOOM

This works great for Asari Adepts and Human Sentinels.

Soldier: Fantastic dps and fire support, if the player can use it properly. Great for holding the line with a sentinel.

I'm not trolling or flaming right now. But how can soldiers have fantastic dps?

I mean you only get adrenaline rush or concussive shot. The latter I think we can all agree is not a damage dealer. AR gives you 50% bonus damage, and the cooldown of it is nearly the same as duration, so it's a general 25% dps increase.

But.
If you want to put something worthwile on that soldier in the weapon department (let's say a revenant and a widow) you right now face 30s-ish cooldown, so it would result in a 12,5% dps. Or you can put on light weapons, but again, you will deal far less damage with an avenger than a revenant.

Now a turian sentinel gets 1238 shields, 825 hp with 40% damage reduction (3438 eff hp - twice as much as a soldier) and iirc 7,5% damage bonus. And an overload to help with phantom barrier (and even on gold this does matter a lot, I can eat a ton of shots before even my shield runs out, and not having to move out of cover if a nade lands nearby prolongs your life tenfold).

And right now I'm only comparing a soldier to a sentinel, not even talking about biotic/tech blasts or glorious 160% sniper headshot damage from infiltrators.

Krogans can be a fine middle ground, however as they can't use half of the available cover in a map they are much more skill dependant than any other class.

All in all I would say soldier dps is anything but spetacular, they lack defenses and wouldn't say they would be my choice to do gold (speaking only about classes, not player skill).

That's hardly dps. You have 2 of it without gimping its damage? Maybe 3? You can kill maybe 3 guardians with it or an assault trooper before you have to search for an ammo crate (or two or 3 as those have only 1 nade). How much is your dps if you throw nades then go looking for more?

Well, I often see soldiers do 3-4 kills with one grenade. And it doesnt have cd, so you can also use your other skills like spamming cs or ar. And a good soldier will have them refilled every round.

On Firebase White I usually get 4 kills at the start by tossing a Frag at the enemies down the ladder.

While I'm doing that I'm spamming CS to take out any stragglers. Me and a Turian Sentinel can hold the line on gold. With Overload and CS it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

Vanguard FTW. Vanguards are the best. You need them. They deal the most damage, make the most kills and are the best saviors (when you're down). Vanguards are heroes.

I do it all the time. Might be your perk set up but it does fall under a duration affect, which is it preventing the mob from  regenerating. Toss a throw and boom!

A bad anything is useless on gold. ;)
But that's what it comes down to: Every class is as useful as the player is skilled to handle it. Some classes are easier to handle than others, though.

I think he means that there are alot, (way too many) people playing Vanguard like some retarded dbags, hogging kills, traveling too far from the group (which is pinned down). Good Vanguards know when to curb their appetite for destruction. Good vanguards fight to prevent the group from getting pinned down.

Good Vanguards charge headlong into overwhelming odds, fend off entire armies while the rest of the team screws around with objectives, solo Phantoms and Altas with ease, always score more than the rest of the team combined, and tap that Quarian Engineer when they're done winning the match single-handedly.

Vanguards are Heros.

All on gold, baby. True Heros never settle for less.

And trust me, tapping that Quarian becomes exponentially harder above silver difficulty.
