I've set on of my mouse's side buttons to melee, but whenever I try to to a heavy melee, I can't; only regular melee attacks. Is there any way to set these buttons to be able to be held down?

I don't know what your problem is since I set melee to Thumb Button 2 on my mouse and it works fine for melee and heavy melee. It's probably your mouse. Map it to your other thumb button and see what happens.

It doesn't matter which of them I bind; neither of them will do it. Interestingly though, if i triple click them, I will do a heavy melee.

Does it work in other games? What mouse do you have. Only buy Razer or Logitech. There are some mouse makers, i wont name them here so they dont get any unwarranted attention, have mice which simply do not hold keypresses. Only click. What a major customer BS.

I'm actually having this exact same problem with 2 different logitech mice (my portable VX Revolution, and full sized MX Revolution). I'm running the latest logitech drivers on Win7 and when I map melee to a thumb button it won't hold for heavy melee. I know that both mice are a few years old, but this has never been an issue with any other game or application. It's more than a little frustrating, but I suppose it isn't a deal breaker, either.

I did some testing outside of the game. I think my problem is mouse related as no matter what keypress/function I map my thumb buttons to (such as random letters or the shift key) it only produces a single instantaneous input and it does not hold the key down like the primary buttons.
It does the same thing on both of my logitech mice so i'm going to have to assume that is just how logitech builds their mice. oh well. I've more or less gotten used to the F key now despite how awkward it was at first.

Please then explain, if other mice do not hold presses, how you are able to hold the mouse1 to fire a weapon...
Roccat, Steelseries, Corsair and Cyborg are frequently used in e-sports and gaming tournaments in general, I suppose they're ****-tier right?

What's wrong with F?
I always find it unwise to map an action that requires aiming (which melee does, albeit a little) on a mouse-button.
