So most of can agree that cryo ammo was garbage compared to the others. It was only useful after defences were down. Can it still freeze a shielded/barrier/armored enemy?

It's one of the most useful types of ammo in multiplayer. Perfect for infiltrators.

Depends on the situation, really, but it's generally pretty useful.

Personally I find it extremely useful for any type of close quarters play. Unlike me2 the vanguard is less reliant on inferno ammo since he has nova and better charge evolutions for cc. This leaves room for the extra lockdown power of cryo ammo. Also excellent on shotgun infiltrators.

Squad Cryo made insanity a breeze. It's been weakened to 50% effective in squad variant now.

Problem on normal was everything died before Cryo triggered most of the time. Ammo powers are a little more useful in the demo because of the long cooldowns.

it slows down protected enemies so... I guess it's kind of useful?

I didn't think it  was garbage.
That aside: against defences it doesn't freeze, but it does slow the enemies.

I dont understand when cryo ammo ever sucked? Squad cryo ammo was the most OP thing in ME2. IMO, insanity was a breeze with it... You have complete control of enemy forces with cryo ammo. Just because you don't see immediate damage effects with it like you do with disruptor or incendiary doesn't mean it sucks... Once an enemy is frozen it is controlled and not doing you damage and also basically dead. So what is the problem with cryo? IMO it was the best ammo option in ME2

Basically, it seems like other ammo types are affordable in manageable difficulties. Once the game gets to a difficulty that is challenging, such as you see in current multi-player, cryo ammo is the best option. Thus, cryo ammo wins?

i ran cryo ammo (soldier) in insanity for mass2 and the reason why people says it sucks is because you more or less need a ton of bullets to strip defences before you could freeze them, while ammo powers like inferno killed those defences faster(less bullets used) while still having an effect when the enemy only had health left.

so cryo ammo slows down shielded enemies? does it make them shoot less/slower? how does it work in cqb? i dont have the demo so i dunno.

I think cryo and warp will be the best ammo powers because they have multiple uses. Both weaken armor upto %100 which is arguably there beset features. Cryo slows down enemies and has evolutions that can do more headshot damage and more damage in generale to frozen enemies. I'll max out cryo for my vangaurd and probably only go to 4 on incendiary.

Max out incinerate so it does double on frozen tagets. Cryo is pretty handy.

Did you ever use Squad Cryo in ME2?

Well if you did you clearly were not using it properly.

Good for any class and yes, it is exceptionally effective.  I hope they don't "nerf" it in some some future patch when the game comes out.

Worked well for me. I'd strip the armour shields usually from way way back with a sniper rifle the squad would freeze/kill everything.

Exactly, Squad Cryo is amazing, for most every class.

Cyro ammo is beast, I just wish it would unequip after each mission so I wouldn't burn through my reserve when I do silver than switch to bronze.
