Cloak doesn't mean the enemy won't see you. If they see you cloak they will be able to tell where you are until you break their sight, if you cloak when they for sure won't be able to see you (as in a wall between you not just taking cover) then you can run past them all you want and they won't notice unless you bump into them or get super close.

Since I'm a Vanguard, Phantoms don't scare me quite as much and I'm always happy to deal with them while my team is busy. But the Engineers and their turrets...my worst enemy.

That being said, if there's both a Phantom and an Engineer on the battlefield, usually I'll go for the Phantom first - a) because I'm better-equipped to handle barriers than shields, and B) because if the Phantom kills my whole team, there'll be nobody to save me from the turrets :(

both are easy in the right team but at least the turrets can be avoided and taken down relitivly easily with overload(then again so can phantoms but still

I have died more from a turret hidden in some empty corner than any phantoms.

..and then..when you think you've got it taken down - you realise there is another one that now has you lined up perfectly.

As an Engineer, i can usually take down turrets before they fully set up, so i pick Phantoms.

I die more to Phantoms than Engineers. They scare me more 0.0 When I see a Phantom I'm like "OH SH!T THERE'S A PHANTOM" whereas when somebody calls out "Engineer!" my typical response is "No there's not."

"Yeah, he's right there."

"No, his body is right there."

=D

Engineers, not so much for the engineer themselves but there turrets. I die in like two seconds flat nine times out of ten unless I know where they are.

I agree.
As long as you can keep the turret from hitting you three overloads are enough to destroy a deployed turret and the engineer if he's stays close.
A Phantom doesn't seem to panick or get stunned as badly even when you've dropped their barriers in one overload. One good hit from their shotgun or blades can really wreak havok.

Until I get my Asari adept leveled, I'll go with Phantoms. Their gymnastic displays and resistance to being incapacitated by incinerate does my head in. As much as I hate gun turrets, they don't follow me around or cartwheel out of the way of my powers.

I hate engineer turrets. Not because they're hard to take down or anything, but because of what they do to a team without situational awareness. Someone enevitably dies to one, then someone else tries to resurrect that person and dies from the same turret, then another person tries to play hero and... well, you get the idea. By now theres 3 corpses in the turret's crossfire that I refuse to touch. Of course, thats after being in multiple games where I failed horribly at trying to play hero....

Phantoms, only because they can actually follow you to cover to finish you off, unlike engineers/turrets which generally dont press your cover...not to mention the engineers/turrets dont flee from combat as much when they're about to die.

But when you are the last one left, and facing those turrets and a Phantom, it sure is annoying to know there is a section of the board you arent going to be able to run and hide in for fear of being shot up by a turret. So ENGINEERS! I hate them so.

They're both annoying, but if I had to choose. The Engineers definitely.

Definitely Engineers. On their own they're rather harmless but once they pull out that turret I feel the dread start coming and I usually drop everything in order to spam bullets on the little box before it can pop up. I play a Vanguard and use the Charge+Nova combo so Phantoms are taken care of easily but turrets can ruin my day like no one's business. I also hate when they plant themselves behind an Atlas and heal them back to full even as you pump every bullet you have into the mech. Gah, I hate Engineers.

LOL yeah the first time I saw that happening I wondered what was wrong with that Atlas. Till I spotted this Engineer.

True that, there's a point where you're better off with someone dead, it's not a punishment or to be a jerk (+20 Renegade, btw we need a Renegade/Paragon smiley!), we all do mistakes and it's easy to be caught off guard by an unexpected turret. But I saw what you described far too many times, one person is going to cause the whole group to wipe because his corpse is laying in a death trap.

You have far better luck of surviving a wave with 3 people left than alone because everyone else died trying to save this person.

Engineers, when two or three put their turrets up in a small area it becomes a pain to clear them out. Rezing people caught in the crossfire of multiple turrets is usually an exercise in futility. However, it is quite satisfying when you blow up the folded turret on the engineers back!

I really hate both of them. They can take down an entire team really quickly, but at least turrets don't go invisible and move away.

phantoms - I got to gold wave 10 only for my entire team to be wiped out within seconds of each other by them. Engineers and their turrets, you can handle, just stay in cover, pick your shots. Phantoms on the other hand, aim for their heads, and keep firing!

Phantoms easily.

Engineers are annoying, but much easier to deal with, and the turrets don't follow you around for the instakill! :P

Edit: and that's from playing primarily as an asari adept. Turrets => warp+throw.

Engineers are much easier to deal with. Phantoms are the most annoying, unless you use Stasis/Stasis Bubble like the above post mentioned as an asari adept. However, I've gotten into a habit of easily dispatching both (and the turrets the Engineer sets up) as an Infiltrator with my trusty Widow.

Phantoms, but only on silver. On bronze they come late enough and in few enough numbers to be manageable. But when you have three swarming you lets just say if this was chess I'd topple my king.

Engineers are actually more troublesome on bronze. On silver I tend to either blow up the turret along with the engineer during set-up, or pop them from a distance as an infiltrator. One wave we literally had 4 engineers constantly setting up turrets around us during a hacking.

My friend would yell "Turret!"
I'd yell "Turret down!"
He'd yell "Another turret!"

...You get the idea.

Turrets get very dangerous when supporting an enemy attack. But not so much on their own.

I find Engineers to be a bit more annoying, since I play either Vanguard or Krogan Soldier I can handle phantoms really well. Once I notice there's a phantom on the field, I pretty much just start hunting it before it can kill any of my teammates.

I would say Phantoms by a margin...just because they can be killed pretty quickly by players who are skilled with the game...Engineers though are a pain in the butt when they start regenerating turrets and atlas's.....but if you think a group of 3 Phantoms are not dangerous then you be a fool :P
