Start game, notice game is rather easy in some way. I've heard of massive clip sizes and either uber damage or low enemy health. Killing a trooper and getting 8000XP is probably a giveaway as well. Other than that, probably not.

Actually it could be more subtle than that.  You could have 7 enemies at the same time instead of 8.  Or 4 at a spawn point instead of 5.  Or an assault trooper could constitute 25 points of enemy strength instead of 20.  Or have a 20% chance of unlocking a gold gun instead of 10% when you buy a veteran pack.

Cheating in this game structure is almost too easy.

Will you notice something like that?  And because you just unlocked some new toys, you really want to try it out, so you play another round with this fine bunch of folks.  And before you know it, you have profited quite a bit from the cheat as well.

Will EA ban your account?  I don't know the answer to that question.  That's the dilemma--those who intentionally cheated and those who didn't know they are in a cheating game are really hard to distinguish in this game structure.

You CANNOT benefit from the mods that others use. Period. The files are locally stored, and are not shared between players. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

No but RLY, what's going to be done to stop hackers/exploiters/cheaters from rampaging online and getting ridiculous amounts of EXP, money and unlocks?

This does not affect you. If they are doing so in a public match, or have instakill, then this constitutes ruining your experience. But Bioware decided that Private Matches would record stats, which is no fault of the modders. Beating gold alone is normally impossible, modding makes it possible. This game is coop, so anyone with all unlocks is just an extra asset to your team. It sounds like a slippery slope, and it is, but not all modders do so foolishly.

Nonetheless, I do not completely agree with you. I will use mods in private matches whenever I feel the need. If you feel that is cheating, fine. But I will never use them in public matches, not personally. I see no reason to restrict our ability to have fun by ourselves. You do realize that any blanket anti cheat system will ban for singleplayer mods as well, right?

Dude, you opened that can of worms?  Don't you understand that there's a thing called single player?  Why can't you enjoy whatever the fun this "private match" brings you in the single player?  Or just enjoy it quietly or something?  Widespread cheating is just bad for gaming experience, seriously.

Are you kidding me?  The leader's coalesced controls everything.  I know for sure that it controls the enemy spawns.  And people have been reporting large clips sizes, invincibility, large exp gain, etc.

Private matches are singleplayer. I did enjoy it quietly and still do. Now that people are calling for mass bans of modders, I'm explaining the difference. Widespread cheating happens because some people mod to ruin other people's fun. That is not my doing, nor did I expect people to take this into public matches. That's a good way to get banned. But since the Coalesced controls both modes, locking it would be a mistake.

Then I stand corrected. If that's the case, then public lobby modders should be kicked and reported. But again, not all modders are public lobby modders. Or cheaters, or whatever name you'd like.

Being able to modify the Coalesced.ini file in ME2 was a blessing, as it allowed for quite a bit of customization/modding for the game. In this case, being able to modify the Coalesced.bin file would also be a good thing EXCEPT for multiplayer.

For single player, it should be client-side. For multiplayer, it needs to be server-side.

...You seriously need to brush up your "reality" skill.  When people get a way to profit ridiculous amounts, they will cheat.  Why do you think people do real crime, where you have have a real chance to go to jail?

holy crap, I thought it was a bug. Last night I had a 40 round clip on my shotty and that seemed odd. Then latter a level 5 schooled my level 20 on points. I was totally confused.

The funny thing is, is that there is a bug in the game where all people can regenerate their health extremely fast.

My friend got into a game like that and thought it was a modded game.
A day later both of us and two other people are all in a private match, one of us gets downed, I go an revive him but he somehow glitched under the map and from his perspective he is just falling but we see him at the spawn (Firebase White) just flickering and at that same time our shields and health are auto regenerating within a fraction of a second.

Those that do this in public will probably get punished for it. I support that. I reported on the ability to mod because it was being asked, and the community deserved to know. The fact that it affects public matches is bad, and it will probably be exploited. Luckily, the game is coop. At the very least, modders won't be killing you. If you see one in public, report them and kick them. Or leave and find a different lobby. They ruin the fun for many people, but they don't represent myself or anyone else like me. We just do this for fun, to enjoy a game by ourselves.

Edit: Since you'll likely reply with further insults, I should note that I only told others it affected multiplayer out of shock, and to keep others from getting banned. When I realized it wouldn't result in bans, and there were no measures against it, I knew I'd made a mistake. I added a disclaimer for those that would choose to do it in public, so that I wouldn't be tied to them.

Modding is a part of PC gaming. Usually, it only affects singleplayer. In this case, for whatever reason, it doesn't. If Bioware wants to separate Multiplayer and Singleplayer with a server, then I guess that's just something I'll have to accept. Playing modded private matches solo isn't wrong, but I CAN live without it.

I also apologize if I sounded rude or abrasive. I knew what the Coalesced file from ME2 did, and I know some of what it can do for ME3. This includes FOV fixes, controller support, and a host of little gameplay alterations. I would be perfectly happy if multiplayer became server-sided to prevent public cheaters. Like I said, I only resent the idea that private match modders are hurting others by doing so.

Honestly, I wish I hadn't said anything at all. My only intention was to have fun playing alone, for those inevitable times when I didn't want to or couldn't play with others. I truly enjoy playing multiplayer with others fairly. I enjoy messing around by my lonesome just as much, from time to time. Things would have been less disastrous if the Coalesced didn't mod multiplayer.

One shot kills on enemies. What if someone in the round saw an Atlas,
for someone else to just 1 shot it with the impact of a missle launcher
from a pistol and gain 200,000xp for it and you gain nothing. So yeah, I
guess it would be a problem if someone on the game gets 90%+ of the
points and no one else gets any.

People seriously need to realize that there is no personal score. If someone gets 200k XP you are going to benefit from it since XP of every members is added at the end and is the XP you will get for this match (Player 1 got X XP, Player 2 Y XP, Player 3 Z XP and you got N XP, your XP for the match is going to be X+Y+Z+N). I'm not saying that cheating is fine, I'm just reacting about this whole "personal score" thing that is starting to ****** me off, kinda like people QQing about kill stealing.

Also keep in my mind that people are not always cheating, the game also has its own bugs (unless it is possible for someone to cheat for the whole group?). I had this one happening more than once: I get 999 ammos, they are going to be depleting, when the wave is over it goes back to its normal value but as soon as I replenish it gets back to 999.

So when this bug happens I just have unlimited ammos for the whole wave and for the whole match. Not my fault.

This is the funny part. A modded file should not be able to affect others, since the file is stored locally for every party member. My guess is that these people are either mistakenly seeing something, or are exaggerating the truth/lying to reflect badly upon modders.

Actually since all exp earned from each member is added up at the end of the match and the total is given to every player, if one person hacks the game to give themselves kills worth 100k exp each and ends the game with 10mill exp from kills, everyone will get that 10mill exp.

While I haven't seen any hacking yet it would really ****** me off if it turned up in a public match i was playing, if you want to go godmode and jerk yourself off while you one shot everything go do it in your own private game.

I definitely hear ya. As royard pointed out, I was wrong, and modded files do affect the lobby. That's annoying, and I support fixing that part alone. However, I would never do this to anyone in a public lobby, and many modders I know would never do that either. I only support modding private matches.

The only thing that can be affected by me playing an imbalanced private match for my own amusement is the leaderboards, which are a stupid addition anyways, and not detailed enough to matter. I have no desire to play into the slot machine rewards method, nor do I have the desire to always play with others to beat gold. This is what modding is all about - personal enjoyment. When that becomes a hindrance to the enjoyment of others (public matches), then it's a problem. But don't encourage EA to ban modding altogether.

In short, report public lobby modders. I've asked people who read the thread to refrain from using mods on public matches, and apparently they couldn't care less. But if someone wishes to unlock all cards and screw around on a gold private match with godmode, it doesn't concern you. This is not competitive multiplayer, so there are no arguments to be made about people unlocking overpowered equipment too fast. To those who use this gift to grief others, shame on you. You are the reason we all suffer from draconian bans and encrypted files. Save it for when you're alone.

To those commenting about how modding takes the challenge out of the game, this only applies to when it affects an unwilling party. But since many of you seem content to ruin the fun that some of us are having ALONE, I felt the need to respond. Again, hate me if you will, but I will never use modding to lord it over those who want no part of it. On the flip side, I will never apologize for my right to play a game I payed for the way I want, when it affects only me.

And to Bioware/EA/anyone who handles multiplayer security for you:

Please consider what I've said. I realize that you did not intend for us to be able to muck around with your multiplayer system. However, the ability is now there, and it unfortunately linked to the ability to mod our singleplayer experience. Thus, a blanket lockdown of the game files or systematic banning of anyone using modded files is too pat to be fair. Let us who are using it quietly, without doing so in public matches, have our fun. Since you neglected to allow us to play solo in multiplayer without technically playing "multiplayer", don't take away our one avenue to do so. In exchange, those of us who do mod will do so responsibly, and ensure it affects us and us alone. By all means, ban those who mod public lobbies and cause chaos online. Since they are selfish enough to hurt others by their actions, they deserve to have their right to play revoked. But there IS a difference between us and them. Don't forget that. Part of what makes PC gaming special is the power to play as each person wishes.

It was more a sign of disgust than a literal statement of feeling. But emotions are difficult to convey through text. I'm only angry at people that used my information to ruin the public lobbies, not those who used it for singleplayer or private lobbies.
