I've been a fan of Mass Effect from the beginning, and I have to say, I never imagined Mass Effect having multiplayer until they announced it. I've been playing the co-op portion of the demo from Early Release, and the multiplayer to me is like the lettering on a cake; although you didn't need it to be perfect, it adds to the experience. So far, here's what I like as well as a few things that maybe should be fixed before the real game comes out.
Difficulty: After having played with friends and getting to the point where we're just playing Silver now, and occasionally playing Gold for a challenge, the difficulty level is actually pretty good since it varies on the skill and communication of your squad. For instance, I joined a random quick match on Bronze, and I kept finding myself alone because of teammates going down frequently next to a large group of enemies or next to an Atlas and get executed immediately. This makes Bronze a bit of a challenge in of itself if you play with randoms. When you have a bunch of friends communicating and using their powers in tandem with yours, even Gold's difficulty level seems to be tuned down. Although other games with difficulty levels like this become easier with communication and good teamwork, it's more prevalent in Mass Effect 3.
Packs: I know that many of you have been complaining of the randomness of the Veteran packs, but I think they're a pretty good idea. Yes, they may be random and even I was getting frustrated of not getting the race I wanted, but after much patience, I finally got them; mostly because of playing on Silver and always getting enough money to buy one or two after the mission. In fact, right now I'm trying to get the Krogan Soldier as well as the Hornet, plus trying to upgrade the Rare weapons.
Supplies: This part of your inventory is actually quite good, since you can take only 2 missiles, 2 ammo packs, 2 Survival packs, and 2 Medigels, and it makes you think of when to use them. Do I use a Medigel to pick myself up and hopefully make it closer to my allies to help them or get picked up without using it, or do I have enough faith in my teammates' ability to have one person rush in with the others covering him to pick me up without having to use a Medigel? Do I use a missile to take out the Atlas at a distance, or save it until it's starting to wreck us at close range? The only problem I find is with the Survival packs, but I'll detail that next.
Survival Packs and a few other glitches: I have had a few moments where I've used an Ops Survival Pack to try and run through a crowd of enemies to get back to my teammates, and sometimes the pack doesn't work, only giving me enough health to take exactly one more shot before getting downed. Although this might be because of the enemy shooting me and my health freezes despite the usage of the pack, I feel that they may have to fix the pack to heal you until you have full health and shields even if an enemy shoots you. I feel this way because I've had to do the situation I described, or doing the same thing except to get to a target with very little time on the clock because of how much they're pinning us down on the difficulties me and my friends play on. I've also found a few glitches and minor annoyances as well. When I'm trying to pick up a teammate, sometimes I will stick to the wall instead of revive him. Although this sometimes is because someone else is getting him up, this has happened when it's just me trying to pick him up while my teammates are covering me, wasting a valuable second in which I could get shot and downed myself or the downed teammate getting executed. A possible fix for this is to make it so Reviving a teammate takes priority over taking cover, no matter if you're aiming away from the teammate or looking at his incapacitated body. I've also seen a few instances where the enemies on Firebase White won't go up the landing pad, and will instead be standing on the platform below; making some people think the wave was glitched because they can't find them without looking under the pad. Another thing I feel that should be fixed is the Credits and Exp should be kept whenever you are disconnected from the EA servers or have to leave because of something happening in real life. I could see why they did it where you couldn't keep them so that you play the game through to the end to get all the rewards, but they could have done something similar to Halo Reach's quitting policy; after quitting a few games without finishing them, you wouldn't be able to gain any credits or Exp for a certain amount of time.
Overall, from the demo, I think that the Multiplayer experience, while it may not have been needed, was a great addition to the game, and hopefully extend it's life until they release something else that's related to Mass Effect.
TL;DR: The demo is great, and the multiplayer adds to an already awesome game.
