I've been playing as an Infiltrator lately, and despite always getting the gold badge for headshots, in addition to cloaking around the map taking out 'hard' enemies with stickys/headshots/cloaked melees, and reviving fallen teammates like nobody's business, I still find myself rarely coming in 1st or even 2nd on the scoring board.

Is the Infiltration support role just not meant for 'high scores,' since it is more or less a support role?  Or am I missing something here?

If you are on revive duty, it will show in your score. It takes a good 20-30 seconds when you won't earn any xp to rez someone. No big deal anyway, only use of the scoreboard is to troll friends with it.

I'm not certain about this but it seems like the scoring is more quantity related rather than quality, which is disappointing.

I find myself scoring higher with Infiltrator than with any other class. I usually just find a nice sniping point on each of the maps, and line up headshots as soon as the enemies appear. Cloak is just the icing on the cake because i can take time and line up headshots on hard enemies without getting shot at. I typically come in first, or second to a vanguard who knows what their doing. But there is a lot less risk being Infiltrator.

Everyone gets the same amount of xp at the end of a match, the total combined score of each player. So what does it really matter?

I think you're missing the point that scores don't matter in this game as long as you contribute to the success of the team.

Infiltrator has lot of roles. You have to take most annoying targets ie engineers, guardians, nemesis, phantoms, because of your heavy hits. You're a best medic in the game, because u can revive several mates in the row and then disappear :). They're one of the most viable classes on gold

Not that I care about it, you have to make every shot count, at least 8-9/10 shots need to hit a target, preferably a headshot.

Learn the spawn points and get there quick

1) Score doesn't matter, everyone in the team gets the combined exp earned from each player.

2) Infiltrator can be a top scorer if you work at it, get a mantis/widow and armor pen rounds, don't use a 2nd weapon, make sure you have all the dmg buff powers from cloak and the training ****, in silver one headshot kills everything, you'll be able to shoot through guardian shields, kill the standard troops with a body shot and one bullet will remove 50% of an Atlas's shield/hp (so 4 rounds to kill an Atlas), 2 will kill a fresh turret completely and phantoms will most often ignore you when you're in stealth, making lining up a shot on a bit easier (****ers barely stand still).

3) The ability to cloak and cap objectives/revive people is one of the most valuable assets to a team, use it wisely and often.

The key is to stay active at all times and just keep shooting.

I do get that, and while the headshot, kill count, and revive medals I earn prove I'm more than carrying my weight on the team, there are a alot of players who only view a player's contribution through the scoreboard, which is a little annoying -- especially when they have a mic. -_-

Also, it's still nice seeing one's name ranking 1st or 2nd. Image IPB

While the infiltrator is probably one of the best classes for reviving and capping objectives, I like to play aggressively with my shotgun infiltrator while keeping a modded Carnifex for the long range kills (and keeping the weight down). I usually end up towards the top of the table playing this way (although that is not my reason for playing this way!).

Guess these people have to learn that different classes have different abilities/tasks and therefore different XP throughput then. And for those who won't, there's always the mute button (which I think is missing in the demo, though.... -.-). :P

It certainly is. :D
And not too hard to do as a Vanguard but in the later waves it always gets obvious that a Vanguard is nothing without their teammates, no matter the height of the XP counter...
