Will keeping your crew alive in Mass Effect 2 be meaningful in Mass Effect 3? Well, aside from the chance of meeting them in Mass Effect 3 in form of some sort of "cameo".
I mean, you just pulled off a mission everyone thought was suicidal and came back with no casualties. The least Bioware could have done is give you a pat on the back.

EDIT:
What am saying is that your actions in Mass Effect one were significant and it pretty much got downplayed to "no sweat" in Mass Effect 2. I have a lingering feeling that something similar might happen in Mass Effect 3...

Thoughts?

You won't end up with generic replacements during quests.

I don't see it being a big deal keeping everyone alive because its scripted , once you know it it's easy.

Got it on my second go (mainly because I overestimated Grunts ability to be a damage sponge in cutscenes).

Their will be a handful of Cameo's, alternate scenes, alternate dialogue trees and potentially alternate team mates.

From what one of the Devs have said, or Chris himself,

Spoiler maybe..

Grunt leads a Krogan team / army and it has alot more dialogue than the generic commander if Grunt was dead.

Only 5 seconds, not even a minute?  No wonder this galaxy sucks.
