Did I get charged triple what I should of been then, this is making me sad. Of course with my luck mine is way higher then everyone elses. Still no answer from the store, next thing they'll tell me their not responsible and I'll have too contact the shipper myself.

I'd fight it with you, and I'll bring my 3 buddies that also purchased this and were impacted by it to the cause as well. This is competely unjustfied and gauging customers.

Dan, I'd fight this unjustified charge with you, and so will 3 of my other buddies that ordered as well.

Thank you Xtrykr, hopefully it doesn't come too that. I would just like too hear a statement from the store like, were in contact with the shipper and if anyone was charged incorrectly we will help you resolve it. So far all thats been said is we have no clue whats going on. We just need too be patient I guess, really aside from keeping this and Ms.D updated theres nothing that can be done until the store says something.

Dan Matrix - Open a support ticket with Treehouse! I got a very prompt response from them. Just show receipt that you double paid the COD charge and they will reimburse you for the overage. I imagine that Ms Domino is still sorting out a more long term solution, but the Treehouse staff has acknowledged their hiccup to me and have in my opinion, made the appropriate steps to rectifying it :D

I'll try that when I get home and have access to the pic.

Thanks for letting me know.

I don't want to keep looking like I'm hijacking the discussion away from people who were double, or MORE than double charged on litho fees (you guys were almost definitely over-charged, and reimbursing you guys should be a priority), but I'm still hoping for some info on how/if the issues people have been bringing up here are going to influence future shipping methods.

I assume Treehouse had a reason for using XPO in the past (ex. no/lesser taxes, or an agreement for the best rates, etc), but now that we're being charged tax PLUS the $7.25 COD PLUS the fact that most people don't have money orders/certified cheques hanging around, I'm hoping to hear that alternatives can be looked into.

There's definitely going to be some people, myself included, re-considering pre-orders they've placed. And with the 2 new lithos due for sale this month, I'm sure people need to know if the double+ tax issue on multiple lithos is going to be repeated.

Patience and understanding that Treehouse might be as confused and frustrated as were are here is definitely warranted, but I do want to help keep these shipping/COD issues visible & talked about.

EDIT: Xtrykr, that's great news! I'm really glad to hear that.

Your not hijacking it at all, this is exactly the kind of discussion and info that needs to be put forth for Treehouse too make a decision.

Personally if the COD continues I will only be buying lithographs from now on. Which is unfortunate since I'm a huge ME fan and love all the apparel, trinkets and what not that Ive bought from the store since they opened.

I understand and am fine with paying taxes, that is Canadian law but the extra fees and requirements are what is the issue.

Good news Xtrykr...glad to see some action.

Interesting....

I ordered the regular version of the ME artbook in early February from the states via Barnes and Noble. It was shipped around the same time as the one from Treehouse. I normally wouldn't order from a US bookstore but they had a tempting DLC offer. Anyhow, I got the package in my mailbox today without any hassle, taxes, duties or COD holdups. They even claimed the "over $20" cost on the package. Obviously XPO is a shipper who is taking advantage of the situation.

Hoodie update for Kyuusei: Got it last night, total fees due were $17.10 ($9.85 in taxes + $7.25 COD). I was lucky & my mailwoman accepted cash. I'd LOVE to know what determines why some of us can pay cash and some can't. Echoing Dan, I wonder if it comes down to how familiar or unfamiliar the individual letter carrier is with CODs, and/or simply how willing they are to give you a break.

Sweet, thanks for the update. You calculated pretty well. I'll keep cash on hand and hope the guy's nice. =P

Reading this thread - ouch. I feel sorry for people with multiple lithos. I wonder if it's just XPO because they appear to be a division of Canada Post. And Canada Post is a Crown corporation, so maybe it's easier for Revenue Canada to reinforce this new law or whatever this is, through CP/XPO than through say UPS or FedEx or other couriers. Just theorizing.

Mind you UPS does have crazy brokerage fees sometimes when I order form the States... but at least they take a credit card. lol.

XPO is an US courier company and is in no way, shape or form associated with Canada Post or in turn a crown corporation of the Canadian government. They hand over the package to Canada Post at the border just like USPS would.

Something very wrong. I ordered a litho and an artbook. Total charges came to $70.42 which is outrageous. I'm pretty sure there was a calculation error as each COD was 35.71 so they double dipped and thought an artbook and litho were in a tube and again in a box... Going to open up a ticket about this.

Wow...outrageous indeed. I would contact Treehouse on that one...sounds way too much. Like I said earlier, I got a ME artbook elsewhere in the states arrive today and I didn't pay an extra cent.

I got my litho and CE art book today, too. I was charged $22.10 on each package, for a total of $44.20. The shipping stickers clearly break it down to $14.85 taxes and $7.25 COD charge. I paid with cash, and my postmistress filled out the money orders (no money order charge). She thought 2 COD charges on the same order was...irregular, as well.
As there are two packages, with items of two different values, obviously XPO double dipped.

I don't mind paying the proper taxes, but what tax(es)? By my calculation, 12% (GST + PST) should be $17.40 on the entire order.

@ilikeicehockey: If we ordered the same items...I'm starting to think XPO is just charging random amounts. None of this makes sense.

The funny thing is that my artbook was the slipcover so it should've been even lower than yours...

Then things are very, very wrong indeed. :(

I guess we'll all be opening support tickets, unless Ms. D advises otherwise.

Holy crap these COD charges are insane. I'm even more glad I don't buy lithos, and that I got the artbook from Amazon. The more support tickets the better I say.

As for Canada Post and XPO, I have no idea.

...damnit and my hoodie won't get here til Monday. Has anyone talked them into taking a personal cheque? Just curious.

Sorry BioWare, I love buying Mass Effect stuff but seriously please find another shipper before I buy anything else. :(

I recieved this reply from Ms.D today:

Dan,
As of right now we are working with our shipper to make sure that all new taxes are potentially paid up front. It isn't a quick or easy process to implement.
Also, we have started to change out packing methods so that items are packed by SKU and you don't end up paying duplicate taxes.
Still working...
Ms D

I don't know what too think of this, she did not even acknoledge or answer my question if the store is going too help people who were over charged and yet at the same time admitted that its the stores fault that some of us paid duplicate taxes.  She has yet told me personally too file a ticket to get this resolved, which makes me wonder if customer service is just giving face time right now.  I'm going to file a ticket tomorrow but until someone posts on here saying it was resolved I wouldn't get your hopes up high.  We have yet too recieve an answer to the breakdown of the COD either, like if the taxes include a handling fee in them.  I'd say file tickets and keep at them for the time being is the best thing currently.

I was told by customer service at Treehouse (not Bioware) to keep a copy of the receipt and that they I would be getting it reimbursed. Oddly, a subsequent email exchange said they were working with the shipper to get the credit back. Unfortunately, I have to wait for the 2nd tube to arrive before I can prove that I paid double the COD, so I am patiently awaiting (won't be till March 3rd according to the CP Tracker).

I sent a ticket off, I couldn't sleep because this is on my mind. This is what i calculated for my situation.

1 litho $65 x 13% Ontario tax = $8.45 x 2 lithos = $16.9 + $7.25 cod fees x 2 = $31.40 total for the 2 packages.

I was charged/paid $34.61 x 2 in taxes = $69.22 in taxes + $7.25 cod fees x 2 = $83.72 total

$83.72 - $31.40 = $52.32 overcharged.

Thats if I'm correct which I don't know for sure since I don't know if the shippers tax total includes any other fees.

The only place where I see they could've made that extra few dollars is in the way they determined the exchange rate. While the rate is basically at par right now, I know paypal, credit cards will always have different rates than the nominal so that it swings in their favour but it shouldn't be this much.

Here's my calculation...

1 lithograph $65 x .13 (Ontario HST) = $8.45 + $7.25 (COD) = $15.70
1 slipcover artbook $40 x .13 = $5.20 + $7.25 = $12.45

Total Fees: Priceless (couldn't resist)...$28.15

Amount I was charged: $70.43

Difference was $42.28

That doesnt make sense as we are still $14.13 off once we include that they double charged. I am at a loss here and will most likely open up a ticket today to get this resolved.

I hope you guys get your overcharges back.

Has anyone heard what the $7.25 COD fee was for. I can live with paying the taxes. I just want to know for what and why we are paying XPO $7.25.

Atleast if the Canadian govn't was the sole source of the taxes and any duty I could rest easy. These extra costs and overcharges seem to be at XPO's whim and have me pretty much deciding that I'm done with the Bioware store. Too bad since I love ME and the store is one of the only place for cool and unique items.

It's probably the handling fee of doing the paperwork, manpower to put taxes on your package. USPS has that and it costs 7.50

I still can't get the numbers to add up.

1 litho @ $65 x .12 (GST + MB PST) = $7.80 + $7.25 COD = $15.05
1 CE artbook @ $80 x .12 = $9.60 + $7.25 = $16.85

Total: $31.90

Amount charged: $44.20
Difference: $12.30

So, they undercharged me, then doubled it. The numbers come closer if I calculate 11% tax, but the numbers still aren't the same, and it's not the right tax amount. It's insane that they've overcharged you guys $40-$50. I'd really like to see TBS / XPO give a breakdown of the tax calculation, and see if it includes a handling fee.

It's not you guys that can't add, it's Bioware and XPO.

Wow. I'm totally stunned by how much some of these COD fees are, and how incomprehensible the calculations behind them are.

It's strange though, if there have been handling fees hidden inside the tax some of you guys have been charged, it would seem to depend on what/how much was ordered (like orders with 2 or more items, and/or orders including lithos getting hit the worst). In comparison, I bought two seperate items in two seperate orders, and the tax on them was more or less correct:

Order #1: CE artbook @ $80
Fees due on delivery: $17.90 ($10.65 tax + $7.25 COD)
My calculation of tax: $80 x .13 (ON HST) = $10.40

Order #2: N7 hoodie @ $74
Fees due on delivery: $17.10 ($9.85 tax + 7.25 COD)
My calculation of tax: $74 x .13 (ON HST) = $9.62

Kyuusei, I'd be interested in knowing if the tax you get charged on your hoodie is fairly accurate or not.
