Before posting the pictures, I will mention that my specs is above minimum since I am playing on a laptop and I do have the latest possible driver for my GPU. I'm also hoping that this is only an issue with the demo and won't be an issue in the actual game.

That's clearly GPU related issue. Do you have anything like that in any other demanding game, did that never happen in ME2? GPU might be damaged, or driver installion got corrupted.

ME 2 works fine. Just played it again recently and it went smoothly. I can even play the Witcher 2 with very low specs in this laptop just fine. However, I did notice a similar problem in the Reckoning demo.

The card is quite old compared to latest drivers, it might cause problems to older cards. I would suggest clean installing some older ones instead to see does it makes difference.

ooh I have the same thing, same as the OP I meet all the minimum requirements and most of the reccomended requirements.

I would have to reinstall ME2 to see if it works right now, but It ran perfectly before. I can play Skyrim.  Empire, Napoleon and Shogun Total War, Red Orchestra 2 all on maximum graphics (ish) ....hmmm

So both ATI Mobility series, around same performance level. Are you running latest drivers as well? It might be causing the issue if ME 2 used to run well but not anymore.

I'll reinstall it tomorrow and see what happens

I think the drivers are fairly recent

That's pretty far below the minimum system requirements. Still, while the performance should be unplayable the visuals shoudn't look like that.

Yeah I'm confused as to why the graphics would start looking like that...it doesn't make sense. I do some registry cleaning once in awhile and i did it some time before and after installing the demo.

actually the game runs fine, the frame rate is perfect and graphics are all on high except that red issue

according to "can you run it" I meet everything required to at least play the game

Hey I sent a message yesterday to the OP. There should be a check box in your gfx settings under 3D on radeon/AMD cards to fix horizontal/vertical lines when I checked this it fixed the red outline problem! Try it out and see if it works for any of you guys!

Hey my settings: Anti Analising-let App decide
Adaptive AA Off
smoothvision HD:let app decide
Catalys AI:Advanced
then the rest on performace (Personal prefrence)
Putting these setting in fixed it for me
then in API Specific:support DXT textures
triple buffering On
forxe 24 bit z buffer.
It seems the game will run fine on these without alternate pixel center.(the setting that fixes horizontal / vertical lines)
Hope this helps someone

I dunno I'm on x1800 nd I'm on legacy 10.2 what driver are you on?
the above mentioned setting are in Catalyst control center not in game, just to make sure.
everything should be under the 3D drop down menu.

Never mind, its fixed.. thanks for the tip! Works fine for me now. Don't know which setting in particular affected it but I don't want to test it again since I just reinstalled the driver and then did some registry cleaning. I just opted to use application settings for most of the options and now it runs without the janky red lines. Thanks again, Jimud!

That site is almost always wrong and shouldn't be trusted. You don't meet the system requirements and "Can You Run It" is wrong.

Like any other Mass Effect, actual graphics cards are required.  TTBOMK, that number "HD 5145" is merely an onboard video chip built into the chipset, and cannot qualify to meet any minimum for any Mass Effect.

hmm it ran Mass Effect 1 and 2 perfectly.....odd

Anyway regardless of whether I should be able to run the game at all....the red line issue seems to be resolved
so thankyou Jimud for your help and suggestions ^_^
