I just think her eyes are too big and that's throwing the whole face off. Then they emphasis them even more with all that makeup. Just make the eyes smaller.

Someone plug this baby in: 731.1EH.C84.P8Q.F7C.7FE.N6K.5CD.ME5.8R7.CG6.416

She look hella fine tbh.

My main problem with her is the general size of her face. Some of her face features are too big. Her laugh lines are also too highlighted when she speaks.

I don't like the freckles. I think the jaw looks wrong ( it's alot more narrow in the artwork ) and I hate theat stupidexpression on her face, she's always smiling/smirking. I miss that fierce determined look that she was sporting in the official artwork.

Edit

The hair looks wrong as well.

I wish they made it where we could edit the default Femshep. I love her just some my Femsheps could use that model with making some minor changes like skin color and hair color and eyes, you know the small stuff lol.

I'll try and paint something up later, but I think the major differences between the artwork and the in-game model are:

1. Shape of the lips is off, artwork lips are slightly fuller and wider.
2. The jaw is a little low in game.

It's not really that far off to be honest. The ingame and artwork faces are pretty close and any differences are minor. It mostly has to do with the fact that Shepard in the game has a kind of oblivious bland expression, and the face doesn't really animate well as mentioned above. In the artwork Shepard looks fierce.

The difference people are seeing is that the lighting ingame is pretty ****ty in the demo (don't know if there will be ambient occlusion in the retail version) as well as the facial expression being completely off. I'll try and do a shop myself later on and see what I can do with this.

It is an improvement but I still say that she looks nothing like she does in the official artwork.

Wasn't the Facebook beauty pageant just to decide which FShep would go on the Collector's Edition?

it was to decide what the official default femshep would look like.  The ingame default female shape is meant to look the same as the artwork, as the male does.

edit: bleh cant post image for some reason.

All they have to do with default femshep is remove the lipstick entirely, and
tone the eyeshadow way down. All else can stay as is. But alas it seems they
don't agree with me and won't let me "fix" it in the game either.
I don't get that.

So I took the original unedited image in the OP and smoothed out the shading, made some minor fixes to the jaw line, the eyes, and the lips, tweaked the colors, and added a bit more flattering lighting because the lighting in the character creator is pretty bad... anyway.

I prefer mine. Photo below. Mine was created in Mass Effect to look realistic of a female soldier. (who does not go into battle with friggin make up and lipstick on /grumble)

She looks like a hooker, the eyes are too far apart and her jaw is bigger than the normandy's core room.

Completely unrealistic and frankly ruins the atmosphere.

Kudos Bioware.

Can we stop with the butthurt hyperbole, please? She may not be to your taste (and the makeup is definitely excessive), but look like a hooker she most certainly does not.

Well... 90% of it is the lighting really.  The lighting in the character creator is just terrible.  Tweaked the colors into a more natural white light (added blue and green to balance it out) and smoothed out the weird jagged edges so it's a bit more flattering.

People are complaining the eyes are too far appart... well by artist's anatomy standards they're at the ideal distance, it's just that they have a weird expression making them look odd.  The jaw also imo isn't that wide, just start's a little low.  I tweaked them to make them look more like the concept art and lowered/thinned out the eyebrows to look a tiny bit more aggressive and now I think the eyes look ok.  Meh.

I think the reason for all the complaining is mainly that Bioware hyped that concept art so much in the hair color contest. That was how Femshep was going to look, naturally beautiful but with a determined expression.

And then in the actual character creator she looks nothing like the art physically. She has a goofy look on her face. She has a ton of makeup caked on. She is a totally different character. She looks more like Johanna Dark in that terrible sequel Perfect Dark Zero.

I wish somebody would create a better redhead Shep and then post the code on this thread.

Did not like the Facebook contest or the new FemShep look. She looks way too young for ME3. In-game she has too much make-up, and I cannot quite tell, but something just does not feel right all around.
That said, I think the Photoshopped second FemShep in the OP is a ton better than the Default in-game. I approve.

Her eyes are too big, so dulling the eye shadow helps with that.

I never felt NewFemShep was ugly; she just looks anime/cartoonish compared to Sheploo and most of the other human faces in Mass Effect. Her face is actually similar to Jack's, if you think about it (Jack is also very big eyed). However, the look makes her seem ~10 years younger than Sheploo and most of our custom Sheps, which is a bit awkward, since canon Shep is supposed to be in his/her mid thirties in ME3.
