Default Femshep with less intense colors and adjusted eye color, what do you think?

I think it sucks that EA is obviously marketing to shallow men and women who don't play the ME games with this younger design.

Femshep fans, by and large, do make her older and more battle hardened. That is in fact the entire appeal of Femshep. That she is just as tough as the guys. To quote the late great Spiegel talking to Jennifer Hale's Electra: "I love the kind of woman who can kick my ass."

Completely agree with this comment. I do not understand this attempt at pretifying her and making her look younger than the previous two defaults.

Given FemShep's history, one can deduce that she is very much weathered and highly experienced. I mean she was picked to represent Humanity as a Spectre - that is no small feat that would be awarded to some youngster with no record.

Really, who cares? It's the future, it's science fiction. It's a game. It's not real. They can revive a dead Shepard. Why can't she look young?
You can make an old looking FemShep with many wrinkles. I doubt this is what everyone wants.

Wrinkles are unnecessary - she can look older and more mature without those: a little less make-up, slightly more mature features. She looks like a twenty-some girl right now. I guess what puzzles me is the underlying sexualization of a character that has no reason to be sexualized. The male character can be made more of a pretty boy and be made to look younger too, but you will never see that.

Either way, discussion of sexuality and sexism in the video game industry, topics such a discussion is sure to lead to, is unrelated to this thread and should be dropped.

I like the new design more. But she looks really weird in game cutscenes. I dunno her face is off somehow.

And these people complaining about her looking young. Shep is only in her 30's and the game lore says humans can live up to 150 years. Which makes her pretty young. That plus all the genetic stuff people get done (she had her whole face rebuilt in ME2) and I don't see the problem with her looking young.

New one looks more realistic, so props for that. The face in general just looks weird, though.

to OP: I like the "old" version more. Her face looks more interesting, less plain. But keep trying :)
As long as the new default femshep isn't grimacing she looks really good. But as others already stated, there is something wrong with her facial animations in the demo. I hope bioware fixes it in the full version.

My problem with 'new Jane' is the eyebrows... off color and too bushy... maybe take a shot at tweaking those....

I don't know if "they" do. Two of mine look like they're 40 or so. One looks somewhat younger.

To each their own. I like my femshep to look younger and prettier, she is also a blondie.
There are a lot of women in RL that look younger than their age. My friend for example is in her early thirties but she looks no older than 23. Mind you, I'm saying it from the words of people who met her.
Anyway, on topic - the only thing I dislike about default femshep is the heavy amount of makeup.
I like her facial structure as well. All the femsheps I've created were rather pretty, but they still missed something i can't really put a finger on. I would definitely select the default face when I'll get a chance to edit it (different eye color, hair color and less makeup).
The edited texture picture posted by the OP is great, so I have a request. Is it possible to provide a link for the original creator of this texture? Is there a texmod for this? I've looked here on the forums but unfortunately can't find it.

I don't see why they couldn't just let us tweak it in the CC

I guess it's because of the facial features. Most of the features of her face are unavailable in original CC. For example the shape of her nose, her eyes - if you look in CC you will not see these shapes.
Same thing with the skin texture. To get her face to be tweakable, you will have to make the skin texture available for selection in the CC with full eyebrows and the makeup. If you do so, I guess she no longer becomes 'iconic'.
That's my reasoning anyway.

She looks like a hooker, the eyes are too far apart and her jaw is bigger than the normandy's core room.

Completely unrealistic and frankly ruins the atmosphere.

Kudos Bioware.

It is what people voted for. Didn't you guys see the makeup on her face in the picture?
