I still can't understand WHY I like it so damn much. It completely baffles me.

The negatives are there. The cover/movement system isn't the same quality as Gears. It's glitchy. The animations are stiff and sometimes not even that good at all.

But something about it... I'm just addicted. I didn't want it to fail, but I expected it to be mediocre. I've been proven wrong. And I admit it.

Sums up my thoughts perfectly. I was expecting it to be tacked on kind of like Dead Space 2's multiplayer, and be pretty weak. Boy was I surprised.

It's also going to make Insanity feel a bit...lackluster.

"Oh an Atlas mech...just one? How terrifying..."

Then you remember that your 3 human teammates have been replaced by 2 idiot AI ones just in time to get stomped by that 1 Atlas.

Meh, let them be a distraction for the cannonfodder, I can take down an atlas with my vanguard single handedly on silver.
Only thing that can get me killed is my own fooling aroud to GET INTO IT at all costs :D

I was never really vocal about my opposition to Multiplayer in the Mass Effect franchise. I mentioned it here or there, commented in other threads, but I did worry about things. I worried that the multiplayer mode would be tacked on, and wouldn't mesh well with the MEverse, I worried that funding the development of MP could leave the SP campaign underfunded, and I worried about how the development team could translate SP skills into a MP setting.

I was certainly in the "leave MP out of ME" camp before the demo came out, but I was at least willing to give it a try, and hope that things turned out ok. Boy am I glad I decided that way.

I'm still primarily looking forward to the SP of ME3, simply because Shepard's story is too good to miss, imo. And it remains to be seen if adding MP detracted noticeably from the SP experience. But with what I saw in the demo, and the sheer number of hours I've put into the MP so far, my doubts are dwindling quickly. I can't believe how much fun I'm having in MP, and this is only the demo! The full game will have even more options available, more maps, more enemy factions, more weapons, more classes to unlock...

Yeah, consider me converted to the dark side of MP.

It has occurred to me recently that I will probably fire up some co-op first thing when I get the game.

Never really thought I'd say that about a Bioware game. I bet the RPG grognards will be up in arms over Bioware's new audience. Oh well, who cares. Game is fun.

Yep, was thinking the same about firing up the game AND about those people who are used to their strategy/RPG hybrids rather than action/RPG hybrids.

I wasn't particularly optimistic or pessimistic about the multiplayer experience. So far, I'm finding it to be great fun. The writing in the singleplayer had better be good, else MP is going to be what keeps me playing the game.

On a side note, I'm somewhat worried that the SP gameplay is going to be too easy, even on Insanity (and I'm not the kind of guy who wants his games to be super hard). Shep has more weapons and more powers than an MP character, plus the ability to call up the power bar/wheel to freeze time.
Poor Reapers.

I'll raise that with three words:

Human Male Vanguard.

...in the full game then. :pinched:

You. Broke. My. Heart.

*Goes to cry and starts resuming playing the ME3 MP.*

So those people who leveled up to N7 level 100 are just gonna lose that much work and love?

Yeah. I hate to say it, because I'm absolutely nuts for the game's story, but I'm immediately diving into multiplayer as soon as I own the game. It's way too fun.

This! I never thought I would ever see it that way but I can't see myself start the SP-game before letting off some steam in MP.

SAme here MP never seemed liked it would join the game and i thought i would keep it aside and play it only if there is positivity around it but now MP seems excellent. SO ill probably do few hours of SP then MP marathon.

Probably not going to touch MP until my first three runs of ME3 and to be frank, I'm kind of already bored with it.

I tried the MP for the first time last night as a break from finishing up an ME1/2 playthrough. Opened the starter box and I had a Salarian Infiltrator staring back at me. I then gleefully spent then next 2 hours backstabbing Guardians and making Cerberus troops whistle jaunty tunes from the holes in their heads. Was a good time.

I'm still trying to finish my last ME2 playthrough before I start ME3.

But once I'm done with that, I'm gonna take a crack at the ME3 demo multiplayer. At least it gives me an excuse to play this game longer, and more options than only single player.

This mode is very worthy of the Mass Effect name and continues the Mass Effect tradition of excellence.

Playing as the other races I think is the main attraction, and ME powers gameplay. I just love it

Yeah, I spent the last 7 days playing ME3 MP extensively. I am actually neglecting a lot of important stuff because of ME3 demo. Totally unexpected.

Strange as it is I'll probably be hitting up the multiplayer before I start on the singleplayer, if only to check out what maps and other options we get.

Right now I'm seriously considering this as well. It sounds insane but I might just not play the singleplayer campaign with my various imports for a while and start with multiplayer instead. Needs some serious grinding as well to get all the upgrades...

The fun I'm getting out of this demo is already on higher levels than I get from most games, right now I'm literally more excited to play the full game because of full scale multi, more enemies types, unlocks and more maps than I was because of the single player experience...

I'd like to say - this is a great success, while everyone was sure that the MP will be an addition not too many people will enjoy and play, and a lot will whine about - it shows up it's a triple A standalone experience.

I agree.
