If by ''dumbing down'' yeah mean ''made playable and fun'' then yes. Mass Effect 1 had just about the worst gameplay in any Bioware game ever, and that includes the cluncky mess that was KOTOR1.

I think if DA2 came out first it would have gotten the same scores as ME2, and ME2 would have gotten the same scores as DA2

No, Mass Effect 2 has a higher score on Metacritic than Mass Effect 1 because it is objectively the superior game.

I feel sorry for ME3 because people are pissing on it before it even gets release due to DA2. The OP ain't wrong when he is saying the game is getting a lot praise already, but that's the only thing it's getting.

There was a different project director. The one for DA:O left Bioware over the direction they wanted to take the series. The new Guy was in way over his head and had one PR gaff after another.

Had very little to do with it. The game itself felt like a rushed, uninspired mess. Far worse than the original in almost every single way. That's why people hated it.

Yes, but it was the least of DA2's problems. It was everything else that let the game down.

Because it was completely false...

People spam for one reason or another. I also wanted to continue with my Warden but gave DA2 a fair chance and even enjoyed it up to act 3. Then they messed up so terribly that I can't play the game anymore, not even after a year. Didn't even bother to buy the DLCs even though they are supposed to be better than the base game.

As someone already said, people complained about ME2 too but Bioware created a high quality product which shut them up eventually because bottomline, whether you like the story or not it is still a good game. DA2 isn't. And defending poor quality and rushed games should make you ashamed because if all people were like you then no company would bother putting effort into games anymore. They would just all throw them on the market fast as possible for the cash grab. Good games exist because there is a demand for good games and there are people who don't buy a game if it is crap.

How was it not a dragon age game when there has been only 1 other dragon age game?

It's not as if dragon age has multiple games in a series all following the same basic structure.


How to you rectify that logical inconsistency?

No the thing is it was rated 8/10 or 9/10 but it really was a 7/10. People expected a Bioware game, and got a low budget product for the same price. That's why.

That carries some merit, but I still think it was a bad game in a lot of ways. I did enjoy it, but I also enjoyed ME1 which had a lot of the same problems. I think what saved ME1 was the superior story, characters, and the ability to explore.

Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to imprison the player in a city (a city that also used to be a prison, btw) for 95% of the game? What the hell was that idiot thinking, and why the hell didn't anyone else on the team speak up and tell them how ****ing idiotic their ideas were?

I liked the dialogue. Sometimes it was pretty funny. But indeed cities in games NEVER work.

Does anybody remember when Bioware was in Germany promoting Mass Effect 3? They had a few panels based around DA2 and legacy and DLC and etc.

And I remembered being in the chat rooms, and ALL the questions the rep for DA2's team was being asked were nearly ALL about Origins. Hardly anything, if NOTHING about Hawke or any of their companions. He actually had DESPERATION in his voice when he said 'Does ANYONE have any questions about Dragon Age 2?'.

I felt so sorry for the poor bloke, I asked a whole load of random questions about DA2 races and characters...

The sad thing is, about 50 - 75% of my questions were answered.

But, can't kinda help but feel that they kinda deserve it. Dragon Age 2 certainly wasn't.... awful.... by itself....

Just, you look at it against Origins and then against Bioware.... And yeah.....
