Whenever a teammate is downed near cover, I've found that my character tends to use that cover instead of reviving my teammate when I press A. While I may not be waiting for the revive sign to light up or something else, I don't pay too much attention when there are enemies nearby. These two commands on the same button clash way too much for me. I think it would be so much easier if HOLD A (or X for PS3) was the revive command. As long as holding the action button while stationary was used, it wouldn't conflict with the sprinting/storming command, as you have to move the left stick in tandom to perform that.
Anyone else having these problems? This is my only gripe with the controls and it's a very small gripe. Otherwise, I think the controls work great and the control is fluid as ever.
Reviving teammates needs to be mapped differently.

yeah we run into alot of issues not being able to issue the revive command as it can get blocked by points of cover since assigned to same button mapping.
it can be real frustrating when you cant revive someone moving the camera around or the character to find the tiny sweet spot to activate it when your surrounded by tons of enemies..

+1 this
Remapping the button by default would be an easy solution.

Well what button would do that then? Every single button on the controller is in use you'd get the same issue if it were in other places ya? Maybe not on those pompous PC players jk y'all please don't bash me I was only fibbin! But ya, on xbox you can't use "B" as the melee attacks are there. "X" is the only other one but that's being used for reload and switching weapons. Waif! The bumpers could be used huh! Just thought of that. Disregard all of that revive should be on the bumpers! It all makes sense now lol

the whole control system is broken atm so players who run into obstuctions get stuck or take cover when they mean to revive/cap. theres a lot of clashes with the control system atm but that doesnt mean they HAVE to seperate actions from the space key (tbh since this is unique to ME games, and is elegantly simple I dont really want them to change the fact space bar does everything). they DO need to change a few things to make each ALL commands distinct from one another however.
sprint, hold forward key + space. once sprint is activated you dont need to hold space down.
evade, hold sideway backward key + press space
take cover, hold forward key + space.
take cover from sprint, press space when close to cover
jump over cover from sprint, double tap space while sprinting at cover
jump over cover (can be performed while in cover), hold forward key + space.
turn cover (you have to be in cover), hold sideway key + press space
look out of cover (to fire), use the sideways key OR forward key.
interact/activate, hold space while mouseover target.
move out of cover, hold backwards OR double tap backwards, OR double tap sideways if at cover threshold (i.e looking around the corner).
switch cover, double tap sideways key to leave cover + press space
alternatively just use the same controls every other FPS with the exception that space bar be changed from jump to take cover. theres hardly a downside to this that I can see?
the fact taking cover is itself very inefficient needs to be looked at. i.e. you cant poke your head out to fire a quick shot atm which means cover is only really used when recovering shield or for casting biotics that require minimal aim.

Yep, suggested that to Bioware, but they said it's hard to change it as game has gone gold. But really, they should have let people test the game earlier so we could have influenced it.

That's why I suggested that holding A (on 360) or X (on PS3) while stationary is the command for reviving teammates, that way it doesn't clash with the cover command or sprint command.

You have to make sure you're looking/aiming at the red circle on your downed teammate.

And let's not talk about the retarded smoke screen. I mean you go after an objective or a dying teammate. Centurion sees you and on higher difficulties he starts with a smoke grenade at your feet.
And after that until the smoke is up you can't target objectives or teammates. If there ever will be a versus mode, I will always spawn as a centurion and spam smoke on an objective until the enemy runs out of time:/

Bioware really needed to release a Beta for their multiplayer so that some of these issues could have been worked out BEFORE launch.
I mean seriously, we HAVE omni tools that administer medi-gel. Why couldn't we use that? Even if it meant running to a medi-gel dispenser and then using the omni-tool would have been better than having deal with all of the obstacles in our path, and the enemies that USUALLY surround a downed teammate.
I mean has anybody noticed the way enemies just hover around downed teammates?
