Oh, and since the creator of the other thread said he wouldn't bar anyone that doesn't hate homos, then does that mean you could send me an invite since I don't hate heteros? I'n not great with multiplayer, but I think I'll want to try it before the actual game comes out. Thanks!

Well, yes and no.  Speaking in terms absolutes, there was a political aspect of the KKK from the very outset, though you would be correct in saying that that was not the most prominent part of the Klan, but race was indeed always a factor, albeit not always the most prominent.  As I said, initially the most prominent feature was something of a para-military movement in response to the South's defeat in the Civil War.
