i just realized that in me2 when shep is asking miranda about what cerberus stands for, she says that the salarians have their STGs for intel gethering and the asari have their "legendary commandos". the salarian character is an STG and that convo leads me to believe that the STGs and the commandos are about equal in terms of skill so the mp character for the asari should be a commando

Threatening to send Asari commandos after someone is usually a sure way to get what you want. Benezia and Liara both used that tactic.

Didn't really work for either of them though XD

It does. Didn't work for Benezia the time Shepard was involved...but that's a given.

Justicar's are rare because of normal every day life most don't have a reason to make that personal sacrifice. They don't have the drive to. There is probably a story point in ME3 about a lot more taking the training when the Reapers hit and A LOT more Asari stop shaking there asses in bars or pirating and realize they need to step the **** up.

Basically I think it'll make more sense in relation to the actual story once we get to it. But like everything else how we all stand now only with ME1 and 2 as are back knowledge, commando makes more sense from are perspective.

So I went ahead and voted no since I'm sure there's a reasoning for it in ME3. Kinda feel polls like this are pointless till the game actually comes out. Reminds me of someone wondering why Quarians say 'For Rannoch' instead of 'for the fleet'. I kinda feel like that should be obvious as per story points obviously coming up for ME3.

They're trying to take back there home world - you may very well help in that. It would make sense for them to be fighting for there home world just like everyone else.

And Justicars scream: For Thesia, when they do not fight for Thesia, they fight for "justice" and for their code, also doesn' make sense.

There isn't really any training for a Justicar as far as i'm aware. It's just a religious code that some asari take. And when a Justicar leaves asari space, it became a big deal...look at the story with Samara.

There is. They have a harsh training, one that most don't pass and die. Stated in the codex.

Agreed all the way. Commando sounds way better and is better arranged with the established lore.

It's just a simple class name, pure cosmetic change, that can be done for all players as soon as they go online.

So? It is an online game, bioware can change anything anytime, and the game will automaticaly download the new file and replace the old one. They can patch the balance,  and one day some power will work a little different for example.

They are, significantly, less elite and much less special than a Justicar. And they don't necessarily have exceptional biotic abilities for an Asari. The Justicar is a piece of lore in the ME world which many players may well want to play as. MP will probably be the only chance ever becaue I doubt the main character of a single player game will ever be an asari.

I actually see no problems with the Asari Adept being a justicar and not a commando, makes her more unique, commando would be really generic.

A few excerpts from the Codex:

-“Asari Commandos are powerful asari biotics who form the elite of the asari military.”

-“They are considered amongst the finest individual warriors in the galaxy, comparable to Krogan Battlemasters.”

versus

-Justicars are an asari class of virtually untouchable, extra-judicial executioners operating almost exclusively within asari territory.

-“Although justicars generally work alone, their effectiveness arises from the huge body of knowledge they can access. Any asari who enters the ranks of justicars has already spent centuries in a combination of criminal investigation, military intelligence, and combat experience; the collective body of justicar knowledge exceeds even that of the Spectres.”

-“Justicars tend to be independent, requiring little help but also scorning it since such advanced skill and experience usually travels with a powerful ego. The conflicts presented by such arrogance prompted the Justicar Order to develop the Oaths of Subsumation.”

Honestly now, which seems to fit the MP gameplay the best? Personal preferences aside.

Also: say we had Aria T’Loak – major badass, love her as I do Samara – as a squadmate, and her class was, dunno, “Omega Ruler” or whatever. Hey, that’s unique, how about Omega Ruler instead of Justicar or Commando? Or how about Ardat-Yakshi, which was Morinth’s class. That’s certainly unique, and Morinth’s power rivaled that of Samara’s. Why not Spectres – more unique and skilled - instead of Alliance Soldier for Humans?

You just have no idea how much better it would make me feel if the character name will be changed.

It can also be commando, merely differently speced. After all, all humans have the same alliance training.

It really should be named commando. But that made me thinking.. What if there were super-uber-rare option in those veteran boxes to be able to have 4th skill and that would decide will your commando become a justicar, ardat-yakshi atc. Justicar could have the reave and ardat-yakshi the dominate. You know the number 4 key holds no skill at all at the moment. This should apply for other races as well. I wish you got my point :P
