If I don't delay it at all and immediately Nova after a Charge, I've got about a quarter to a half a second before I can Charge again. If I instead wait that short time between Charge and Nova (which I usually do because then my barrier is still up), then I can Charge immediately after Nova.

By the way, Nova does not completely remove all barrier. It reduces you down to a tiny amount. However, because no damage bleeds through when your barrier/shield breaks, you can still take a single hit after Nova before taking health damage.

I can't count semi-slowly to two before the CD on Charge is up. So it's not half a second.

I just noticed that my/our computations weren't entirely correct.
With one second for the Charge to happen there would actually be a 2.56 seconds cooldown (1s + 0.75 * 2.08). Doesn't make that much of a difference though.

Btw: I'm currently downloading a youtube vid to disect the cooldowns and timings to get reliable numbers.

Got the timings:

Charge over medium distance takes about 0.8s from button-press to animation end (0.73 for really close targets).
Nova takes about 1.5s from button-press to animation end
That is an overall of 2.3s from initiating charge to being ready to charge again and the guy in the video indeed had about 0.8s left of the cooldown as he chose dual Nova instead of the cooldown bonus.

With the cd bonus starting on the initiation of Nova, the overall Charge cooldown would be 2.51s. Considering the sluggishness of the UI and all, you'd have about 0.25 to 0.4s between a Charge-Nova combo and the next Charge if everything works as expected.

That sounds correct. Like I said, in practice it feels like there's only about a quarter to half a second of delay before I can Charge-Nova again. I think your numbers must be right, then.

Sorry, that does not bear out from what I am seeing. The video from that other guy clearly shows that his Charge is always ready on cooldown after two chained Novas.

Charge + 2x Small Nova are about 4s. With a 3.08s cooldown on charge it is indeed ready but he wasted 0.9s(or even more with bonus) which is an entire Charge cycle.
He is doing a Charge-Dual Small Nova-Charge in 4.6s.
With CD bonus it would be Charge-Nova-Charge in less than 3.3s with the same amount of damage.

I think "half blast" is pretty much a must take. Allows you spam Nova with a lot more security.

Damn, I have to remember that in the full game.

Having half of your shield after blast isn't a bad thing.

And he's basically invulnerable during those two Novas. Oh, and he can take a somewhat heavier weapon, because he doesn't have to fear for his CD as much as with one Nova.

Well, if the official formula below is accurate there are 4 rational ways to evolve nova:

New Damage/Force Value = Base Value at Rank 1 * (1.0 + Sum of all rank bonuses + Dynamic Bonuses)

Single damage nova:
350*(1.0 + 0.3 (rank 3) +0.4 (rank 4) + 0.35 (vanguard passive) + 1.0 (rank 6) + 0.25 (after charge dynamic bonus) = 350*3.3 = 1155

Single radius nova:
 350*(1.0 + 0.3 (rank 3) + 0.35 (vanguard passive) + 1.0 (rank 6) + 0.25 (after charge dynamic bonus) =
350*2.9 = 1015

Dual damage nova:
 350*(1.0 + 0.3 (rank 3) +0.4 (rank 4) - 0.4 (rank 5) + 0.35 (vanguard passive) + 1.0 (rank 6) + 0.25 (after charge dynamic bonus) =
350*2.9 = 1015, 1015*2 = 2030

Dual radius nova:
 350*(1.0 + 0.3 (rank 3) - 0.4 (rank 5) + 0.35 (vanguard passive) + 1.0 (rank 6) + 0.25 (after charge dynamic bonus) =  350*2.5 = 875, 875*2 = 1750

I doubt that this is true, if someone can post info about half blast nova damage (with vanguard passive bonus and nova's 4 rank)  it will be welcome, because I went the first way.

The minimal CD to get for Charge is 2.31 seconds (right after Nova). If the enemy isn't too close you'll probably use up to a second for Charge itself + one for Nova. Means you have 0.31 seconds left of the cooldown when you're done.

Minimal CD for Charge is 2,85 seconds (right after Nova only carrying a Pistol). The cooldown bonus from Nova is added to all the other bonuses before the new cooldown is calculated not on top of an intermediate.
Also minimal CD when carrying a Katana X or Scimitar X and Phalanx X ist 2,97 seconds. Shotgunguard all the way :D
