The trick to Atlas's on silver and gold is to leave them for the end. Keep kiting the enemies and destroy the weaker enemies then you can easily focus fire the Atlas's. Please note being flanked by Phantom's will destroy you not the Atlas's.

Pretty much this. Because of how slow the atlas moves you can easily kite it around the entire map. Phantoms on the other hand you can't. If your team isn't paying attention 1 phantom can wipe your entire party. I e seen pugs try to go Rez other people only to get killed by the same phantom who took the other guy out. It's amusing to watch it happen and slightly saddening also

True. I'll always try and warn people when I've been taken down by a Phantom. Rather ride out a wave in spectator mode than see a total party wipe trying to rez me and whoever came for me.

ATLAS mechs are dangerous because they can effectively deny you access to a portion of the map. Anything above Bronze and you'll generally have more ATLAS mechs than missiles. Their rocket attacks are easy enough to dodge, but they also have a mass driver which still hurts, and a one hit KO melee should you stay too close for too long.

They may not be the direct cause of many player deaths but because of their size they do effectively cut off one route, and like guardians can eventually flush you out of cover if they move up on your group. When this happens, is usually the same time you discover the three turrets that the combat engineers have set up behind you, or it can be in the middle of a particularly bad phantom attack, preventing you from reviving allies.

They're perfect imo. Phantoms need a nerf though, take away their gun, they already have an insta kill and can go invisible.

IMO Phantoms are perfect as well. They're not that hard to take out with the appropriate classes. Nerfing them would make it too easy.

I agree, neither should be nerfed.  If your trying to take on a phantom alone then yes it is death.  But if your group is actually playing together as a team you would be surprised how quickly there 3 health bars get depleted.  Ecerybody just needs to unload everything into them simultaniously.

Worse feeling in the game is being revived then one shotted by the the phantom's katana attack.  The one that makes you auto bleed out.  No revives no medegel.  Curse them.:crying:

I've found the biggest threat of Atlases is either giving them too much or too little attention. You have to know where they are, but you generally want to clear everything else first (if possible) before you get outflanked. Then your team can take them down without much issue. I'm pretty sure that's the purpose of the Atlas: to look big and imposing and distract you from the Phantoms and Engineers running around behind you.

It's the worst when you're in gold or silver, and they are the targets to eliminate. Double bad if no one's packing portable missiles.

They're easy as hell, but pose a threat to the slow and ignorant.

Atlas are annoying hen it's a "hold this position" wave. You rather not want to waste a missile on them but if for some reason the hacking is in a relatively open space (top of the Noveria base) by the stairs, they can be a right pain to deal with...

Against a raging Krogan or Vanguard? No. To every other class. Yes.

You can take an atlas down with 2 charging krogans easily, it will take a second or two but easy non-the-less... so, I guess it's just vanguard they're hard for.

Atlas are no problem, 4 shots with an infiltrator and it's dead.

Yep, Altas mechs are pretty easy to deal with. I do remember thinking that on Bronze "these mechs aren't that big of a deal", and then on Silver and Gold levels they are tougher and more of em. I agree with other posters here, focus on Phantoms (if there are any) above all. They are the ones who will take you and your squad down in a hurry (Stasis, Singularity, and Overload are very helpful with Phantoms). Also, take out Combat Engineers with regard to repairing mechs, and more importantly to minimize those pesky turrets. Nothing like runnig around a corner then spotting the turret *too late*.

One thing some friends and I do on Silver and Gold levels is "wolf pack" on a mech. It is amazing how quickly a mech will go down when all four players are pounding on it with everything they have. Also, we save our rockets for the 2nd and last waves just in case

Tbh i don't really see Atlas's as a threat(playing gold). I play quarian infiltrader with sniper/headshot power specialization using Black widow II.. Their weak spots(pilot window/Red circle spot in the back) are soo big you can't miss em, they go down pretty fast(even faster on bronze/silver)..

I'd rather go against 5 Atlas's then 2 banshees anyday... Banshees are a PAIN!!!!

You might find it absurd that I'm asking for the game to be more difficult, but I think that the spice of many balance systems is disbalance. For example, most of us enjoy the difficult approach of Phantoms, yes? Challenges are fun, especially when they are in fact terrifying. Why isn't this killer robot terrifying?

EDIT: Good god! Six?! Six per round?! Forget I said anything...

Also this, from the MP balance changes.

- (Silver) Armor increased from 11250 to 12940
- (Silver) Shields increased from 11250 to 12940
- (Gold) Armor increased from 16875 to 21094
- (Gold) Shields increased from 16875 to 21094

Hell, Bronze is a cakewalk. Whip out a widow on a 130% sniper damage infiltrator and watch an Atlas drop in three shots.

Compared to a banshee or a phantom the Atlas is a joke.
Mostly because its slow and so large that you can hit it from the other end of the map.

Atlas are one of the easier enemies. Then again, Cerberus has Phantoms to make up for it, which are the far bigger threat. Atlas themselves are usually easy to deal with, even on gold and without rockets.

One atlas is a formality. But on silver wave 11, when you have six of them heading toward you from different headings, they become interesting enough.

They are a great source of biotic explosions to get rid of everyone around them.

If you don't see the threat and atlas is then stop playing bronze :)
