The thing is, using the .zip and adding to AddIns.xml could corrupt everything. Mine has absolutely no text on the buttons, it gets to about 98% installed and stays on it forever.

1) rename your .dazip into .zip
2) Open up the zip file
3) Anything in Addins goes to:
My Documents\\\\\\\\BioWare\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\AddIns
3) Anything in Overrides goes to:
My Documents\\\\\\\\BioWare\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\packages\\\\\\\\core
YES - just drag the whole folder INTO there, don't replace the override or the Addins folder!
4) open up the Manifest.xml file, to do that you will need a text editor more powerful than Notepad. Something like Metapad or Textpad. http://liquidninja.c...d/download.html
5) Copy a section of Manifest.xml
Starting from the first < AddInItem UID...etc etc > tag and ending in the < /AddInItem > tag:
Example like this:

            <Title DefaultText="Advanced Tactics v2.0"></Title>

            <Rating DefaultText="" />
            <RatingDescription DefaultText="" />
            <URL DefaultText="http://social.bioware.com/project/861/" />
            <ReleaseDate>1/12/2009</ReleaseDate>
            <Version>2.0</Version>
            <GameVersion>1.0</GameVersion>
            <Type>1</Type>
            <Publisher DefaultText="Anakin" />
            <PrereqList/>
            <FileList>
                <Folder src="packages/" Type="package"/>
                <Folder src="addins/" Type="addin"/>
            </FileList>
        </AddInItem>

6) Open Addins.xml found in My Documents\\\\\\\\BioWare\\\\\\\\Dragon Age\\\\\\\\Settings
7) Ok, scroll down to the bottom of this quite large Xml file, Paste your copied text ONE LINE above the . This should occupy the very last line in your xml document
8) Save and Close
9) Run Dragon Age, go to downloadable content and see if its there for you activate.

That's not really a fix for the issues with DAUpdater.exe, just a workaround to avoid the issues with it.

as far as i can tell mine crashes when it gets to the Updating AddIns.xml part.

WHICH!.. leads me to believe that the addins.xml is corrupted. so so so..

if someone could post the contents of an uncorrupted addins.xml that i can copy and paste into my one that would be sweet. thanks.

in the meantime, im gonna delete the bioware folder in my documents, (after i backup my saves) to see if that fixes it.

i fixed my Addins.xml problem by opening the file with Notepad,



Use File>Save As>Save as type 'All Files'>Encoding 'UTF-8'

after deleting the "bioware" folder in C:\\Users\\Mj\\Documents\\ daupdater doesnt crash when installing addins anymore.



if you decided to do this you will have to redownload the dlc afterwards and make sure you backup the character and screenshot(if you want to keep them) folders before you delete the bioware folder .then simply put them back after you run the game.
