In case the devs are reading this, just want to add another vote for some kind of level requirement (or at least a search filter of some sort) for silver/gold matches. It's ridiculous how long it can take to get a solid-seeming squad together to take on a silver or gold level. I do also agree that the default should be "Bronze", not "Any."

Agree 100%

Minimum level for silver should be 10

Minimum for gold should be 15

Why the elitism? I cleared silver by the time I was lvl 10 char...
Or are you talking about N7 rating lvl 10?
Still, I dont get it.

Silver- Character level of 10+ (using a character lower will make it so the countdown won't start.)

Gold- Character level of 15+ (same as Silver, just higher level requirement)

Won't apply to private matches.

really you want that system . sounds like a elitist restristion you want in the game . This is not PVP . So I assume this level 1 players are garbage . I utterly disagree with this idea

Yeah the restriction is a bit much. Just played a silver game with a level 1 character- the rest of us were 15+. We carried him a bit, but not hugely. Impressive stuff from the guy. He should not have been prevented from playing silver.

There better not be because if they even attempt to restrict MP to certain level things will get real ugly up in here . because there would be a serious impact on every players right to play this co op No matter what level you are .

Yeah best Combo : Asari Adept and The Crux pistol Scoped and damage plus. Run and bubble pathing of the evil AI, then head shot, Rinse and repeat. Higher levels Claymore works too.

Why boot them ? I've beaten gold game with level 16 engineer today and didnt have much problems -.-

Yeah we are not talking about Level characters we are talking about all the new players (rank 1 - 25) No gear required to support the other class. They just get killed doing stupid things like Meleeing on a silver and gold before weaking or stand firing at a turrent when exposed to the gun.

They played Pinnicale Station and think they can finish it with level 1 weapons and

No they play this game like anyone else does . you people make me sick

You are really missing the point.

This has nothing to do with skill.  Someone using a level 1 character is immediately putting the entire team at a disadvantage because that level 1 character does not have all his skills unlocked, nor does he have any bonuses from Fitness or Training.   The character simply is not on par with a level 10 character due to unlocks.

A balanced team on tough matches relies on everyone's unlocked powers.  For instance, a Sniper benefits from someone using a powered up overload to strip the shields of a Centurian so as to guarentee a one-shot kill.  Or a Soldier benefiting from an Adept using shockwave or an Asari using Stasis to make a guardian vulnerable to fire.

Any level 1 character simply cannot help the team in tight spots due to a lack of buffs and unlocks.

It's a matter of rounding out the team.

No, they don't play the game like higher-rank players because they can't play the game like higher rank players because their characters don't have any unlocks!  Think about it!

As another poster mentioned, the real problem is just that "any" is default.

I don't think level requirements are necessary. Upgraded weapons can be used by characters of any level. It's perfectly feasible for a low level to contribute -- And if the player wants to and his teammates don't mind, why not?

I agree with the min level requirement. I just started MP today and I kept on getting to the Silver & Gold lobbies even though I searched for Bronze games. Wha...?

Edit: Played the MP in the PC, don't know if this matchmaking fiasco exists in the 360 too.  (should really try the 360 soon cos that's what my retail game is gonna be)

I dont mind restrictions on level. Why? Because I am playing only gold and searching for gold games and often receive lowlevels in the lobby, which just blindly clicked anylocation search and dont know about difficulties. There should be some interactive video tutorial that should show when you firstly create character and describe all the main stuff in mp. Also search system should be improved, often nobody join to lobby i created.

You also sometimes get an issue with the matchmaking just bugging out. You can have bronze selected and the game can still dump you into silver/gold for some reason.

Yep. Silver search will take me to bronze as well. Seems the whole thing is screwy.

Well, I for one dont mind fighting alongside low rank players. I'm N7 lvl somewhere around 40 and see the whole thing as just another step in difficulty. If I can rez 'em I do, if I think its too dangerous I dont. Then try to fight handicapped. So what? If they try their best what might be the reason to look down on people? If you wanna act that way? Create PRIVATE matches and INVITE your FRIENDS. But with that kinda attitude you wont find many you know.

Last night I was runing around with my adept and a rookie that was level 1/1 - sticked to me like a shadow. following me everywhere, took cover somewhere near and provided suppresive fire when he/she could. Kinda cool, acted like a trainee - sometimes its good to get off your high horse and learn how to help other gamers play and have fun. maybe nex time that somebody will play, s/he will be thoughtful of other players, you know? What goes around, comes around.

No need for lvl requirements.

Just change/better the search options.

I got kicked out of the gold lobby with a lvl 17 char, and an N7 rank of around 80. That was just ridiculous.

Let me guess, you were using vanguard?

Yeah, I recently completed a silver match with two lvl 1's, one 10 and me (8). The lvl 1's kept up with us on the final score with around 23~30k each. Don't underestimate people just because of their lvl, they might surprise you.

I kicked a guy complaining about a low level in Bronze earlier, I'd probably do the same to Silver if I could ever get a Silver match going, the lobby joining bugs keep that from happening.

Wow, some people on here are really venomous. Defaulting to bronze sounds like a good idea seeing as people would naturally build their way up from there. Imposing level limits is a terrible idea though - some people are happy to play with newbies out of kindness or to add more challenge, and some very skilled players will no doubt enjoy the added challenge of using a low level character themselves on a difficult mission.

Why impose a load of restrictive rules to impose your own personal opinion of how all games should be played? Make your own private games with likeminded people if that's how you want it, or only join games with the setup you want (it doesn't take long to launch a quick match and it'll probably be slicker and more varied in the full game).

I absolutely agree with you, being one of those people kicked out of a room in Silver or Gold just because I had a low level character. Sure I understand the fact that the character will not have many powers and have rank 1 powers at most, but that doesn't mean the player themselves are completely incompetent, don't forget an experienced player can promote level 20 characters which puts them back down to Level 1, and like you said, the higher rank characters should work as a team to support and help the low-level ones. It drives me absolutely crazy when people do this in games, not just Mass Effect 3, but any online game, they judge you by your stats and don't give the player a chance. I've been playing Mass Effect 3 more times than I can count, so I certainly know what I'm doing, I may not play the multiplayer that often, but I have promoted a couple of characters and I definitely know the ins and outs of combat, but when people don't give you a chance that really bugs me.

Hangmans tree got it in one.....If "expert" players want no-one but the same in their matches, make a private match and invite your friends, otherwise you won't make any with that attitude.
