I would love it if Bioware remade the trilogy with the ME3 animations, lighting, combat mechanics and RPG elements.

Bioware did this with ME2 on the PS3 (they improved the lighting). As the games have improved over the years it would be great if we could go back to number 1 and play through the trilogy as one whole story.

If the textures are updated to the level of number 3 as well as the general look and feel of the first two (they all use the same engine) then I would buy it again.

BioWare's expertise is in its writing. I'd rather they make a new story than wast resources making a sparkly ME1.

But they have already done the work. All they have to do is link from the old files to the new ones (basically). There is no writing involved so they can continue doing that while a small group work on this. The only new things you would need are textures for things like characters that changed in the later games. That's all.

That's the problem with video game trilogies. Play the crap out of them as they come out, but each new entry tends to make the last one dated in some way. Engine improvements, gameplay adjustments, it all adds up. I can hardly stand ME1 now, and after playing the ME3 demo and seeing how improved the cover system is, ME2 feels clunky in comparison. Not at all like movie trilogies.

Doubt they'll do a remaster anytime soon though.

I agree, while re-making them would be nice I'd much rather experience a new adventure in Mass Effect than to play the first one over again.

Besides, it isnt THAT outdated. They should at least wait until a new system comes out, like Halo's remake.

could b a great idea for an anniversary edition, its a little early for a remake? But hey, they just gonna have to burden us with new ME games... Haha

I'm not asking for a remake like Halo I am asking then to update the first two with the tech that is in 3. As it is the same engine it wouldn't be a problem and the textures already exist for the most part as a part of ME3. All they have to do is put them on the ME1 and 2 characters. (after all almost everyone you have ever met in the first two games will be in 3)

Way to early for that, they have improved but not enough to warrant a remake. I say in next gen systems it would be reasonable.

I don't think a remake is worth it, only a redux. As Halo proved, there is not enough money in remaking a title. But if they just do what I said the cost would be much lower.

The graphics, scenary, voice overs are already there.  Could it be possible just to adapt the inventory and combat systems of the later games in a a new ME1?  One tiny thing at least; keyboard commands are different on PC version, and can be confusing if one jumps between the different games. The "E" key is squad command in ME2 & ME3, in ME1 it's the action command.

Let's not. To give a perfect analogy to what the result would be, think of George Lucas and his retouching of the original trilogy. It just ruined them just as any retouching to Mass Effect 1 would just ruin it too.

Will the PS3 version of ME2 be able to import from ME1?

JUST. PLAIN. NO. ME3 had terrible graphics style (plasticky, tacky characters and horrible lighting) and the combat and character controls felt cheesy (combat rolls!). The actionization went over the top. When it comes to remakes/revamps, what's needed is a redone ME3 with 75-85% of the story done from scratch. It could be done with ME1 graphics as far as I'm concerned. Cosmetic changes to previous games aren't necessary. They ain't broke, so there's no reason to fix'em. Probably neither of the above is gonna happen... Not by BioWare's hand, at least.

EDIT: Terribly sorry, I got a bit agitated. And confused - I seem to have forgotten ME3's never come out and doesn't exist. =]
