Am I the only one who finds the extremely annoying? The Atlas just grabs you and kills you for the entire match, you don't even get a chance to be revived. I wouldn't care if it only happened if you had no shield/barrier, but I've had it done to me with a full barrier and health and then I can't do anything for the rest of the match.

If you're that close to an Atlas, and still can't evade, that sounds like a fitting punishment.

The game doesn't give me a chance to dodge. I'll be able to do my Charge to Nova to backflip combo maybe three times, then on my next Charge, I can't move and it just kills me.

It has never happened to me. Even as Vanguard.

But Phantoms oneshotted me few times right after charge, it's pretty riddicilous how they can do that with me having full barriers (Yes I backpedal right after, I'm not an idiot). I guess it was just lag.

Either stay out of melee or melee it from behind. Problem solved so easily........

At least they are massive so you can see them coming. Phantoms can pop out of nowhere and run you through. Even had one phantom counter my charge with a sword through the gut.

I just finished a game where my team and I were spamming our shotguns while circling the Atlas. I kinda felt sorry for it.

Get into cover and use a missile? Especially if no-one's shot at it yet.

Yep, it's just so easy to play pickaboo with corner and keep shooting it with shotgun (not using the games actual cover mechanic mind you).

Because meleeing a giant armored robot with gigantic, vanguard-raping claws is the only way to kill it right?

All classes have their weaknesses. Focus on smaller enemies, let your team get the Atlas.

As a Vanguard whose only powers are Charge and Nova? Yes. The combo actually does a good amunt of damage to it.

True, if anything hostile is walking towards you, best to assume that they're going to do better in close than at range. If someone stays back, then you want to close the distance. Besides, it's not like you can't outrun it.

I can rocket launcher him from any distance and 1 hit kill him, if anything I pity the Atlas for being so crappy in comparison to the phantom which although would get pwned by a rocket too, is much more agile and capable of doing hit and run tactics, something that makes them a nice change and a very enjoyable fight.

1. Press 5
2. Charge nearest assault trooper to the Atlas
3. Shoot the Atlas with a missile
4. Profit.

No ???? necessary.

I religiously play a vanguard and I'll tell you right now, there is no reason to charge an atlas. It's bad juju.

Was it realy that hard?
If you want to take the risk of meleeing it instead of shooting at it then deal with the consecuences.
Using Biotic Charge + Nova on absolutely everything else is easy enough already

Don't you have a gun? That is capable of shooting these things called bullets? Which can travel over long ranges to hit and do damage to said Atlas?

:?

Here is a quote from the Spec-Ops Manuel,

"Rules of Engagement:

Item 43: When engaging Heavy Mechs, such as the Cerberus Atlas Mech, or YMIR Mech, Head-Butting as an offensive action is highly inavisable.

Item 44:  No, fists are not advisable either."

High risk, high reward. I play as a vanguard, too, and I've had that happen. But that's the nature of the class. It's also how you learn to play better :)

you see a massive robot with a claw arm and your first idea is to get close to it thats asking to get killed. Oh and the phantoms use nemesis as bait.

To be fair, Vanguards should have at least a few ranks of Shockwave and even at rank 2 it does a fine job of staggering Atlas mechs. So if the melee attack is really that much of a problem for you, you have an alternative way to contribute.

Lol, no offense but I have spent hours on this demo and not once have I been grabbed by the atlas... As a matter of fact, me and my squadmates found it pretty amusing destroying them all with a good 'ole krogan headbutt party :D Seriously, tell everybody to choose their krogan soldier and feast on the site of everything being savagly bashed to death ;) (Atlas's Included) oh and yes... the Missile launcher is the one-shot boring answer as well.
